Hey guys I recently got accepted as a transfer student from a ccc to UCD as a political science major. Although Poli sci is my major I want to take my pre med requirements. What do I need to do? Will ucd allow me to take pre med as a transfer student?

My advice to you is to continue out with your Polisci required courses to graduate. While taking those courses, take the pre-medicine courses you will need to take the MCAT ( 2 Chems, 2 Bios, 2 Physics, 2 O-Chems). You don’t need to major in Polisci to do Pre-Medicine. You just need the classes completed to be able to do well on the MCAT.

Thank you for your response! Wow really? I always thought you needed to finish both a major and pre med ??!

You do need to finish a major, but it can be any major as long as you have the pre - med courses done.

I really appreciate this advise. So I went on UCD’s pre med page and I read this…

“Your major does not matterunlessyou have weak science grades or are a transfer student who is planning at non-science major at UC Davis.* Please see an staff advisor in Health Sciences Advising (HSA) for more information if this is your situation”

And I am in fact both a non science major and a transfer student. So will I be allowed to take pre med???
