did you ask them that 4% accept is real?
I’m not seeing where @penguinlover came up with a higher number to be admitted off waitlist. It might just mean the same percentage (4%) based on a higher pool of applicants.
Personally, I think Davis is being really weird this year from all the stuff I’ve heard across the board. Their higher Waitlist is probably based on their perception that more students are using davis as a safety. Sooo, maybe you do actually stand a slightly better shot than last year, if not as many SIR. I mean that is the defacto event that allows waitlisted in.
You need to start going on Davis transfer page and badmouthing the school, so ppl don’t SIR.
@lindyk8: I asked the admissions person directly on the phone, which is why I am saying it!
I know so many people that are rejecting UCLA and UCSD because Davis is offering better classes for their majors. This makes me nervous.
@lindyk8 If it means anything, I was talking with a Davis CS student (the major I applied for transfer) and he was telling me that they had like 150 students on the waitlist for an algorithms class. I’m guessing Davis has a TON of applicants, so a 4.0 GPA student like myself who is missing some lower division courses might be unacceptable as it would just add more stress to their already crowded lower division. That’s how at least I think UCSD operates - if you don’t have the courses finished, irregardless of your GPA you’re likely to get waitlisted simply because it’s so impacted. Given the rise of CS and how the UC’s are having a tough time growing right now due to the state’s budget, I think this just puts me in a terrible spot with some schools.
I’m really hoping my private college applications pull through. I’m more inclined to believe the above is true if I’m accepted at private colleges and waitlisted at UC’s like Davis.
Without a doubt Davis seems overrun this application period. Thx for update @happylifemachine.
This worries me. You will be ok @HappyLifeMachine !
I got waitlisted to as a transfer student to UC Davis. Marine and Coastal Science Major. I was on the waitlist last year also. I was told a big factor to get in is community service hours the more the better.
@Vet123: I have 5+ years of hopital voluteering. I hope thats enough
If I get rejected from the waitlist, can i appeal?
Posting this for a friend
Chance me please
Waitlisted to UC Davis
Major: environmental policy and planning
GPA: 3.83
Igetc: finished
Pre-reqs: 3 left
I am a transfer student who applied to UC Davis, I applied after my first year instead of after my second year and instead of the required 60 units I only have 50. I applied to UC Davis as an epap major which is one of the majors Davis lets people apply early to. I was just wondering if anyone could give me an opinion on what my chances of getting off the waitlist and admitted into UC Davis are. I really want to go to UC Davis
Got waitlisted in Davis and just found out now that I got rejected from UC Irvine (with a TAG and 3.5 gpa).
Major: Electrical Engineering
GPA: 3.46(before TAU) 3.31(after TAU)
IGETC: Finished by Spring
Prereqs: Finished by Spring
Waitlisted to UCD UCSD and accepted to UCI, but UCD is my number one school. Do I have a chance? I’ve been wanting to go to UCD for the past 4 years…
is anyone accepting their waitlist offer?!
Yes I accepted mine a long time ago.
I was offered a position on the waitlist and my stats are:
UC-UC Transfer (UCI)
major: international relations
prereqs completed: yes
GPA: Applied with a 2.9 (updated my fall quarter grades), currently have a 3.21
i got waitlisted as a lower-division nutrition science major.
GPA: 3:34 when i applied, probably going to be a 3.4 or so by the end of this semester.
i spoke with an admissions representative and they said that they really intend to use the waitlist this year. it is all extremely tentative just because it is hard to tell who is going to SIR to Davis and who isnt as well as what major they got admitted under.
it is practically impossible to chance anyone on the waitlist simply because we were asked to be on the waitlist by admissions themselves. so we are all strong applicants. and also because getting off of the waitlist is by chance itself.
we will all be okay whether or not we get off of the waitlist.
lets just all take peace in knowing that we are in the most optimal place that current events can allow.
Has anyone heard anything yet? My friend got accepted from waitlist, but she had special circumstances so I’m not sure if this counts as actually hearing anything back. Anyone else hear from normal admissions process?
Does anyone know if we have to send any transcript or AP test scores to UC Davis as a waitlisted student?
As a Waitlister you don’t send anything unless accepted.
