I saw on the uc faqs that if youre on the waitlist and dont get accepted, they’ll accept you for merced. Is that true?
@chuck123, right! Assuming they are doing that this year, you should get an offer. I wonder when that is forthcoming.
@Chuck123 UC Merced is also taking applications July 1 to 31 for Spring 2016. UC Merced requires that all prerequisites be completed for all majors. But, if it’s for spring, there’s time to finish up any courses still needed.
Has anyone been denied or rejected off the waitlist yet?
i think that is happening tomorrow @Vet123
Anybody know what time they usually release
Are they done accepting does anyone know?
I hope not?
I called yesterday and they still don’t have a clue about when they will let more know either way. They said they are still waiting on the President. This waiting game is killing me lol
Checking in to see if anyone else has heard back yet - Hoping you all get some good news soon, or at least are not left hanging, so you can plan what comes next. This was sent out by Janet Napolitano a few days ago, with the finalizing of the state’s budget for 2015-2016. It’s the reason admissions is in a quandary… They’re getting mixed messages about how many students to admit, and when to admit them -
“The budget agreement also provides $25 million for undergraduate resident enrollment growth at UC. This funding could be a substantial first step toward achieving UC’s goal of enrolling almost 10,000 new California undergraduate and graduate students over four years, beginning in the 2016-17 academic year.”
I called today and they told me that transfer students on the waitlist are to be informed either way by the end of the month. Lets see if they are correct
I just got off the phone with admissions and she told me that they will be releasing decisions after July 1st. There is no specific date where decisions will be released, however. If anyone has SIR’d to another university, I would recommend putting your energy into a more secured future.
I just called as well, the lady on the phone was pretty rude but said decisions are going to be released after July 1st. Waiting this long is really starting to kill me, especially since they said decision would be up by the 30th.
Admitted students have until July 1st to get in all their transcripts, and the university has rescinded offers of admission before when the documents are not in on time. Perhaps admissions is simply waiting to see if more spots will become available. Also, those admitted in the past week might have decided to attend a different college, and their one week to SIR will be up, which will also provide more space for those still waiting. The process isn’t over until there are no more possibilities of open slots to be filled.
Hmmm, I’m not sure they would rescind on transcripts that soon. A lot of the time element is based on CCCs getting their acts together and some dawdle, and the UCs have mentioned that as a problem. Usually, it’s quite a bit later.
I believe they have a fairly lenient approach to it (within reason).
@lindyk8 UCD will rescind relatively quickly in July those admitted students who do not have their transcripts into admissions on time and who cannot provide proof of the documents being requested before the deadline. They will begin finalizing the course credits for admitted students’ academic records during July, and therefore, are fairly strict about the deadline. If rescinding admits’ offers early in July, then some waitlisted applicants might get an admittance offer (stress the word “might”). Admissions really is trying to squeeze in as many waitlisted applicants as possible - especially this year. But eventually, either the slots are filled or time simply runs out (admissions will be going through appeals soon, too). Summer session transcripts are due by September 1st, and people brought in late from the waitlist will probably be given until that time to send in transcripts (I’m guessing).
Remember - transfers admitted back in mid-April have had over two months to get their transcripts sent into UCD. UCD expects those documents so they can verify the self-reported grades in July. If those grades are not the same, then some admits can also be rescinded (and certainly have been in the past).
Thx @DavisCowsRule. !! You know Davis better than I do, for sure.
I got accepted off the wait list. Just wondering, do we have to submit our transcript on 7/1 same date as other regular applicant?
@pika1110 Congratulations! If you live close to UCD, you might think about going to your community college today (before they close for the day) and get an official transcript in person, or at least a receipt of ordering it, that you can show admissions…and hand deliver these to the admissions people (their new office for walk-ins is in the Welcome Center across from the Mondavi Center). If you live far away, order that transcript today, and have a receipt of doing so. Then, call admissions and let them know you have ordered it. I would think that they will give late admits some extra time to get transcripts turned in, but you should definitely call and find out the new deadlines. However, if you were accepted back on the 3rd of June, or back in April, you better get those transcripts or receipts of ordering in ASAP (in person by tomorrow).
