Hey guys, I’m really stressed now so I come to CC and ask help from you guys.
I’m choosing from
UCD (computer science),
UCI (informatics),
Chapman (business admin with emphasis on international business) with 10k annual scholarship,
LMU (computer science) with 5k annual scholarship,
and University of Toronto (social science program, so I can choose any major under social science)
As you can see, my potential majors are going to be computer science and business.
I’m having such a hard time choosing from these schools.
UCI’s admission to Donald Bren School of info and comp sci seems to be the best choice. However, I’ve been in Irvine since high school and I’ve been to UCI couple of times. I don’t like its commuter vibe and lack of spirit (just how I felt; reality might be different). I’m not sure, but it seems like it’s not a close-knit community.
My comp sci offer at UCD is the one in the College of Letters & Science I went to Decision Day last week and I love the atmosphere. I’m so excited about their Band-Uh and it will definitely be one of the reasons if I end up going there. However, I didn’t enjoy the huge campus. The diversity at UCD is pretty good and people seem to be nice and easy to talk with.
I went to Chapman preview day and I learned a lot about its business school. Its undergraduate program seems to be impressive. I wonder how good it is compare to UCI’s undergrad business program. I really like those Bloomberg terminals.
I LOVE the campus and the residence.
However, there is little diversity. As an Asian international student, even though I went to international schools and I’ve been in Cali since high school, I have no idea how international minorities are going to be treated on campus. Are Chapman students used to people like us? One of the reason sI wish to come here is its close-knit community, but if it’s not inclusive, then it’s pretty bad for me right?
I plan to visit LMU in the next weeks. I heard it’s a good STEM school. It ranks slightly higher than Chapman. I also heard it’s pretty conservative so I’m not sure if it would be good for me. Nice campus.
U of T ranks top 20 worldwide. It has a HUGE international population. Diverse city/campus; awesome college system. I got rejected by its prestigious Rotman Commerce program I don’t have to declare by program until my second year. So if anyone knows the chance to get into Rotman or Comp Sci program being a rejected at admission, that would be great! but who wants to live in Toronto when you can stay in SoCal? (I don’t XD)
I’m actually leaning toward Chapman, but it’s not as prestigious as other schools and my mom really doesn’t want me to go there.
Money is not really a problem; there’s not that big of a difference with my scholarship.
Does Chapman really have that much support for international students as it says? The international student service staff didn’t even come to the preview day!
Which of them will give international students an easier time, excluding U of T? I mean I have no problem getting along with my friends here and we hang out just like everybody else, but I’m worried that college would be a different case.
How does Chapman’s undergrad business stack up against UCI?
How do these schools compare, academically and socially?
Which one should I choose???
Any sort of input will be appreciated!
