UC Davis Waitlist 2021

Question answered.

So they’ll only starting admitting more people if they have enough room but they only admitted people from certain majors? I really hope they admit more people this honestly sucks.

I’m confused on why some majors haven’t been sent waitlist acceptances yet. Are they only choosing certain majors to accept or are they just not done with everyone yet?

@yovomel I feel like they wouldn’t pick people from certain majors and forget about all the other majors. People who were undeclared got in so… I hope there is a second wave.

We must also consider that not all of those accepted from the waitlist will announce it here. The uncertainty is maddening; the best we can do is speculate with the limited information available.

I’m so sad now :(( :frowning: my hopes has gone down for an acceptance… I hope everyone waiting now gets a final decision soon.

I spoke to a davis professor today and he mentioned that waitlist decisions are sent out in waves. He also said colleges with more applicants get decisions first because there are more people applying for those. Ex: sciences get decisions first because more people go for majors like those then for majors like english or history. On the other hand, majors that are less popular usually get responses towards the end.

Does anyone know the amount of time in between waves?

Folks, the first round (or wave) is done. If you are still waitlisted by now, wait for the next round. Those who get off the waitlist have 7 days to decide. After 7 days, some may not SIR, and then they go to the next round. Since they say decisions will be out by June 01, there will be 3 rounds at most – they timed it perfectly, on the 17th, 24th, and 31st. Unfortunately your chance diminishes as each round goes by as slots keeps filling up.

They don’t do this based on majors. Instead it’s by colleges. It’s explained on their website:

https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/freshman/selection-process/

I tallied all the responses on this forum since the first round was released, and saw that every college had people getting off the waitlist. So it’s not that some majors are still processing, or are full.

Nice that Davis gives you a week to decide so you can visit campus. I think UCB gave 3 days.

UCI closed their wait list already. UCSD and UCLA haven’t accepted any instate yet.

So I’m in the waitlist for Philosphy and just was wondering if any philosphy majors have heard. This is all very confusing.

When did u get admitted? Was it updated today?

@waitlistedsloth Tuesday. I don’t think any more will come out until at least next Tuesday or wednesday at the earliest

I called the admissions office today and the woman who answered said they don’t have a set date yet for the second wave. She said they need to wait for people who were accepted in the first wave to either deny or accept before they let anyone else in. I mean, we know how unreliable admissions offices can be, so I don’t know how accurate this information is, I just thought I’d share it. Good luck my friends!

It’s been a week since the last wave…should be one soon

I assume second wave will be Wednesday because the people admitted in the first wave probably have until midnight today

Hopefully

any news ppl

did only one college come out in the last wave?
