UC decision dates...

it sounds more like a career prep seminar thingy...

hahahhaha

i still wish i was teaching the class on south park hahah i'm gonna talk to the student instructor about taking over it next semester. but this is just as well because i want to go to grad school and this class will keep my goals RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE so when i feel like slacking off or throwing in the towel for any classes, i will be reminded that i need to keep pushing foward.

speaking of which, i have some major catching up to do starting tomorrow. hahahaha who else is behind here?

I'm actually slightly ahead right now, however with midterms coming (I've got my first one on Friday) I feel terribly behind. The next three weeks of my life are basically going to be consumed with nothing but studying!

Then I get a short break and then I get to prepare for finals! Ohhh the joy of the the Quarter system!!! All of you planning to come to a UC next year (with the exception of Berkeley), I susgest that you enjoy the semester system as long as you can!

the semester system sure is nice....
=)

allena, are you involved in anything outside of school

I actually love the quarter system, gives a chance for us procrastinators to catch up. I can't even begin to think of how much cramming I would have to do in a semester system. cramming 10 weeks of material into a couple days is doable but 16 weeks?!

anyways, I got my haas essay to do, usc application short essay, midterm on friday etc. i should be pretty busy. On the plus side, i've been going to all my classes!!! (great accomplishment for me) been taking notes and all that good stuff, hopefully i can keep it up for the rest of the quarter.

UCLA and UCB(92 days to go)...

UCSD and UCSB(45 days to go)...

I have a question for all you guys. On my original application I was really contemplating listing myself making the dean's list for the spring semester of 2005 and ultimately decided not to list it in the awards and honors section. Now I am having second thoughts and am again contemplating whether I should put it on the comments section of my uc update form. At the time I was originally contemplating it, I thought that my grades spoke forthemselves, but now i am not so sure. Am I overthinking this, should i just not worry about it. thanks.

Gabe I already know your answer.

you're outhinking yourself. Don't worry about it, because your grades do speak for themselves. I don't think its worth the trouble revising it.

What is your gpa? Is it high enough that academic awards such as Dean's List are pretty much assumed by the adcoms?

my overall UC GPA IS a 3.53 i think and my major is History i was also on the deans list this past fall with a 4.0 gpa.the gpa in question for the spring semester 2005 was a 3.7 something i believe.

Hmmm...I think you should be fine. With a 3.7 gpa, I think its pretty much assumed.

hello from the psych/ed library in berkeley!

has any of you applied to the alumni scholarship for cal?

Cal_Girl, I dabble a bit in building government, but not much beyond classes. Just wondering but did you apply for the alumni scholarship at Cal? I actually did get a scholarship from Cal that I don't recall ever applying for it.

Also just because you started it, I send greetings from the Powell Library at UCLA. :)

<==== science library at ucr

grr.. got 29/35 on stats online homework =(

how much was your alumni scholarship for allena? When did they notify you of this scholarship? Was it based strictly on grades, the essay, both or more?

I feel I am a strong candidate for scholarships at the UCs and want to maximize my opportunity for receiving one. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Ahoy! from my lookout post on Geisel 8th floor!!!

the alumni scholarship is $2,000. you have to apply for it seperately from the scholarships they give you based on your application. it's a seperate process and you have to write an essay about your leadership experiences (i forgot exactly on what aspect) so allena, if you didnt do a seperate form and essay for it, then i don't think it's that one, although i am curious about what was it you got. oh yeah, for the alumni scholarship, you have to interview for it as well.

i was selected for this scholarship last semester, and remembered that Cal made applicants apply for it even before acceptances came out, and was wondering if any of you guys applied for it.

cal_girl, any tips on applying for the leadership scholarship?

hmmmm tips lets see

i honestly just used my personal statement i shared with you and carefully chose 100 words to cut out of it so i can fit their 500 word criteria.

basically, choose to write about the leadership position that you're most passionate about and made you grow the most as a person. i dont remember the exact prompt, but it was something along those lines.

and in the interview...it helps to build rapport with the two ppl interviewing you. in fact, i asked about them quite a bit, and i think they liked it. i also had to talk about things i listed on my application for leadership. so i just talked from the heart.

So did any other TAP students undergo the certification process today?
