Gabe, the problem is I'm not the type to go "crazy" over it. I haven't even decided whether or not I'll even bother. I just asked Square some information. Just save the energy next time, since it really was not a question geared towards you. It's ok to let other people give an answer when they are asked specifically.

gabew42 really meant, "Just chill" when he unknowingly attacked you!

I think the moral of this story is the use of the PM function, since people confuse their screen names with others and HAVE to chime in with an opinion. Duly noted.

You know, Gabe, I understand where you're coming from, but I disagree with you. Yes, I think we all should put everything we've accomplished on our apps. Yeah, it's padding, but I'm f***ing proud of myself for building my good grades and study habits out of literally nothing (I was a high school dropout). I want the world to know that this student who literally made straight F's many times over the years, is now a straight A student in college. I think my essay demonstrated my passion for my discipline (anthro) and so I don't feel like the adcoms will look at my app and think I added the extra stuff because I was desperate. And truth be told, I AM desperate, but more out of anticipation and knowing that this application is the most important document of my life so far and I've gone through some pretty hard times to get here. This probably doesn't make sense to anyone else, but for me, adding that extra stuff is like throwing salt over my shoulder or praying. It may not make any difference in the entire world except it reduces my anxiety.......Besides, the fact that you're a member of the honor society could put you in the running for scholarships you may not have previously been eligible for.

congrats squarepeg and i really do hope that you get into the school u want. u sound like you really deserve it

oh yeah, i just noticed, it's two months from berkeley/LA decisions...and we're already up to 55 pages! damn!

Does anyone know how I can call and get Phi Theta Kappa OFF my app? I don't want it to hurt my chances....

hahahaha

$75 back would be nice too

yeah, we're going to pwn last year's thread. Sorry calgirl.

chunkphat, ahahahahahahaaaaa

hobofromd, what are you saying sorry for?

don't forget that the fafsa deadline is tomorrow everyone!

"don't forget that the fafsa deadline is tomorrow everyone!"

Thanks for the heads up! I just sent mine in! :)

calgrant is also due tommorrow (postmarked).

just saying sorry that this year's thread will be much larger than last year's thread =)

calgrant is also due tommorrow (postmarked).

What?? You need to fill out something besides the FAFSA? How come I wasn't told?

uh... go to the financial aid office and just fill out a cal grant gpa verfication form. It takes 5 mintues to do but you need an administrator to write in your gpa etc.

How come I've never had to do this until now? They've always automatically given me my CalGrant. :( Have I been doing something wrong?

no, you're good then. Some schools submit them automatically.

Oh, phew. You scared me. I think I remember doing it the last semester of high school and no one ever talked about it again. I was looking at the form online just now and whoever wrote it wrote it like it was intended for graudating high school students.

yeah..i just learned that today..i wasted my lunch waiting for the financial aid ppl to tell me i didn't need a gpa verification form lol. oh well, at least i know now. sarcasmgirl, where do you go?

I go to Orange Coast College, calgirl21. I'm guessing since I've gotten all my CalGrants so far (except for last semester when I attended a different CCC), then it's fine. But this is for 2006-2007, so I'm not sure what to do since I'll be transferring to a UC for that school year.

EDIT:
"September 2, 2005 for continuing community college students - Orange Coast College will electronically submit your CALGRANT GPA form."

Well, I'm not continuing at OCC next semester, so does it matter which school submits the form for you?

calgrants are transferrable... so you can take the money and transfer it to your new school. The year after that i think you need to have your current school fill out the calgrant gpa form for you (i think)

Ehh... I checked the Cal Grant status website and tried to make an account to check the status of my Cal Grant and it said no SSN or name on file. Damn it. I'll have to call my financial aid advisor tomorrow. So screwed.
