UC Decision part dos!!

ksbr27,

I still got nothing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow or Tuesday.

TheCaliforniaLife, that's what i'm thinking too, that they are doing a weekly rollout. i will check at midnight tonight and then all day tomorrow and tuesday. ha.

Mykris202,

I'll probably watch the movie Thirteen Days for my political science extra credit assignment since it is such a long movie. It will help having to wait till midnight seem so long. I may just hit the sack and wait till tomorrow morning.

feuerwerke: I go to SF enough as it is anyway... moving closer in the logical next step ;)

ksbr27: nah dude, USC has one of the top ten opera programs in the country, plus they have a music recording program (which I don't think any UC's have but I'm really interested in that)... really good school for music, I have no idea why I didn't apply ;) My voice is almost the opposite... really nice on classical literature but my tessitura's too high for a lot of the musical theatre literature I've seen. I reaaaaaalllllly wish I could sing pop/rock styles but again my voice isn't geared that way. :( From what I've heard Berkeley's music program is primarily academic-oriented, rather than performance-oriented so it's not ideal itself but S.F. is full of opportunities for musicians. I applied there for the double-major thing (which at this juncture I'm leaning toward German: the hardest language for me to sing in).... But as far as UC's go Irvine's music program is really good; I've heard that their musical theatre productions are quite something.

dbgy4eva: nice LA panoramic, really beautiful

Thanks. Hopefully I'll be able to take some time off of school and head to SF for a panoramic, and theres so much culture that I can capture

duogmeg: i can only sing certain pop/rock styles with a mezzo/bordering on soprano belt. not whitney houston/mariah carey style, but think more melissa etheridge/sara bareilles kind of style...but i stick to that ethel merman genre more ;) SF is a great town for music (hellloooo 1970s) so you really can't go wrong with UCB...plus it is #1 public university in the nation, so that's always a plus :). i have a friend at UCI for MT and she likes the program there, but UCI is a liiiittle too far to commute to LA. i am a language major now (french) and i declared that for the UC and USC as first choice, but USC is probably going to be the only place i can use my music credits (and it was the only school where i declared BA theatre as a second major because the rest of the programs have some sort of audition component). i don't know how i will be able use them at UCLA other than a generic music minor, since i'm not sure if they have an MT minor at UCLA. (anyone care to give insight as to if they do and if my music credits would apply? haha)

btw, dbguy4eva, awesome photography. what do you shoot with?

I shoot with a Nikon D80.

haha, the reason I didn't apply to UCI myself is because Irvine is too boring and too far from LA to make up for it.

I'm a coloratura so pop/rock are, again, sort of weird for my range... not that I'm singing up in the stratosphere all of the time but I'm definitely more comfortable the higher the tessitura of the piece.

Best of luck on getting into USC... sounds like that would work out best for your minor but hopefully your music credits will be applicable other places

Waiting:
Los Angeles: Late April (predicting 22th)
Berkeley: April 30

Begun:
Santa Barbara: March 17-April 30
San Diego: March 15-April 30
Santa Cruz: March 15-April 30
Davis: March 15-April 30
Irvine: March 1-April 30
Merced: March 1-March 31
Riverside: March 1-April 30

duogmeg-i must admit, i'd KILL to be a coloratura to be able to sing "the magic flute." i've always thought it's such a classic aria. and while belting is fun, i'd love to just try opera to see if my voice could ever do it (it really can't but it never hurts to dream!) and yes, i was being really nice about UCI ;) it really is quite boring, and based on all the time i've driven through irvine i'm pretty sure i'm not a fan of it, haha. thanks, and best of luck on UCB! only 38 more days!

I thought predicted for Berkeley was the 27th?

As for LA, that predicted date is less than a month from today... D:!!

poppin- go to MyBerkapp it says the decision releases on april 30th!

ugh can it BE late april already? maybe by then the majority of us would have heard from UCSB already!

Only 38 more days, haha aaaaaaaaah... the wait is killing me. I would be a lot less tense if they just did rolling admissions...

I would LOVE to play Queen of the Night someday, or Konstanze... Mozart's arias are so much fun to sing. :D And seriously, I've sung a little bit of musical theatre and comparing the two the technique is so different for the two that I'm sure with lessons/practice you could get a foothold in opera.

in a way, i'm glad it's just ONE day at one specific time, because you can at least count down to it. bloody UCSB releases like, 5 decisions and then makes everyone else wait. NOT cool in my book.

i'm sure if i really, really focused on it i could do a bastardization of opera...the prinicipals and placement behind it are relatively similar to a legit MT piece as a opposed to a contemporary piece, so i'm sure if i wanted to work on it with my coach she would help since she has one of these voices that no matter what she sings it's amazing (plus i need to brush off some legit/classic MT pieces for the summer intensive i'm going to this year since they are BIG on having a large rep book)

How come the UCLA release date keeps getting bumped up? I thought it was the 30th, then someone said the 24th, and now it's predicted to be the 22nd. Where are people getting these dates?

I feel like Cartman waiting for the Wii to come out...

Eric: C'mon. C'mon! For the love of God, how much longer?!

Mrs. Cartman: There you are Eric, what are you doing here?

Eric: I'm waiting for the UCB decisions to come out.

Mrs. Cartman: When does it come out?

Eric: 38 more days ... c'mon. C'mon!

Mrs. Cartman: It's time for school.

Eric: No mom! You don't understand. I've been waiting for this thing to come out for months, and now every day time is slowing down. It's like ... waiting for Christmas ... times a thousand.

Mrs. Cartman: Eric, you're just going to have to be patient.

Eric: No! Nooooo!

HAHA alansda! i feel that way with ALL my decisions!

of course, i've now become obsessed with CC in the process, so that certainly passes the time...;)

anyone staying up to see if anyone releases decisions at midnight?
