UC essay length

Hi for the UC Essays, I heard that two of the essays should be 250 words each, and the third one 600 words?
Or was it 200, 200, 600?
If the total is 1000, does it matter if I exceed it?
And does it matter if the essays are of various lengths but add up to 1000?
Say, 250, 230, 520?

i
ve heard of students writing 600 words for a 500 word essay and they have been accepted into ivies. it really doesn
t matter, as long as the essay isn
t bs and you
re really passionate about whatever you
re writing. i don
t know if this is true, but the common app (or is it the uc app?) has a 630? word limit on the 500 word essays. weiiird, i know.

hmm thanks. anyone else have knowledge about the UC personal statements? Pleaseeee i need helpp

its OK to go a little past 1000 mark just not like 200 words past.

It should be about 200, 200, 600 each and in total about 1000. I would say that it's best to be within +/- 30 for the 1000.

yeah, when you do it online they make sure you did not go past the 1000 total word limit, but they have specific word limits for each. it's pretty clever. like the 600 word essay can be about 635 words max, but then your other ones MUST be shorter...

the UC's have a word counter on the online app for a reason....600+200+200=1,000. On the UCD website, they specifically say: Don't exceed 1,000 words.

You can go over by a few words, but 1050 is too much, IMO.
