<p>I have an essay about passion for science that I used on the commonapp. It basically is about a personal experience when I realized what I have is passion for science, and talks about how I came to the conclusion (via working many MANY long nights [long = 5 AM or later, get up at 6:30 for school], doing projects for years without ever winning even one award, taking classes at the university 1.5 hours away, etc.). Does this fit the prompt? PM me if you want the essay, but I included the gist of it in the parentheses above.</p>

<p>Rationale: The University seeks to enroll students who take initiative in pursuing their education (for example, developing a special interest in science, language or the performing arts, or becoming involved in educational preparation programs, including summer enrichment programs, research or academic development programs such as EAOP, MESA, Puente, COSMOS or other similar programs). This question seeks to understand a student's motivation and dedication to learning.</p>

<p>Yeah, unlike teachers, they won't take off points for irrelevence anyway since they have to read tens of thousands of essays. They'll probably be too confused.</p>
