For prompt #1, I was thinking of writing about how growing up as biracial (black and asian), people would always say I was too smart for a black girl and how I basically never liked being black. But then, i realized that I am proud of both sides of my family and now I am an advocate for social justice.
Again, i’m just brainstorming on things to write about. Any advice would help!
The reason you’re writing this essay is to “give them a reason to say yes” to your application.
If you can do that with this topic in 650 words or less, then go for it.
Just make sure it comes off as a positive, uplifting read rather than a complaining, angry one.
Show, not just tell. Are you really an advocate? Your topic has been done before, sometimes well, sometimes not so well. The point is to show them what makes you ready for- and right for- their college.
