uc essays word count

many people here say that the word count thins are more guidelines than they are strict limits. but on the app it says, "You must respond to three short-answer questions using a total of no more than 1,000 words."

so.... does it cut you off after 1000 words?

bump... i know this has been beaten to death, but a quick answer would be spectacular!

Hi, I made sure mine were under the 1000...I was real close...but I figured it would be a good idea to follow the directions accurately on the application...

good luck

thanks... i hate editing things out of what i write :-/

I know but I had to do it several times...I took out words that didn't really help get across the meaning I was trying to convey...

start looking at any adjectives that you may not need...that should help remove a few words...

how close are you to the word count...?

I literally just submitted my app one hour ago!

has anyone already submitted one that was over 1000 and was cut off? mine is about 1000 buy about 15 words and im wondering if i should cut it or not.

I probably came to a total of about 1100 when I submitted my application.

ok, as long as it didnt cut yours that means i should be fine.

That's be funny if they stopped reading right at 1,000 words. What if they read up to right where the suspense was at the climax and they have to stop reading?

believe me they probably want to read it as much as we want to write it-in other words they dread it.
