What would be my UC gpa and do the two courses I took in summer school count towards my GPA even though they aren't a-g courses? Also what are my chances for UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD. Thanks!!

Btw my ACT Score is 32

What are you planning to major in?

Here is the UC GPA calculator:
<a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

You only use a-g courses for the GPA calculator so the college courses can be reported but not used for your GPA.

@person415 I am planning to major in Biology

You should be able to ask your high school what your uc gpa is, or they should be able to tell you the best way to find that out. As for your chances, I think, assuming you have at least decent extracurriculars, that Berkeley and ucla are gonna be reach schools, while ucsd would be a high match.

Your UC GPA looks like a 4.0. Your ACT is 32 so you have good chances at most of the UC’s.

UCLA/UCB: High Match/Low Reach
UCSD: Match/High Match

@Gumbymom are you sure its a 4.0? I have quite a lot of B’s and I calculated it to be around a 3.6

@VegasLiving: Recalculated again and noticed you duplicated AP Psych class and wasn’t sure about the duplicated advance Math and Science classes. Are they UC approved a-g courses?? I put them into the calculation again plus you get 8 honors points for 4 of your AP classes and now I get a 3.83.
UCLA/UCB: Reach
UCSD: High Match/Low Reach

Why just 8? As far as I know, UCLA does not cup. Same as UCB.

Are you sure @seal16 ? On their website it says they cap at only 8 courses

Academic GPA (calculated using A-G courses taken from the summer after 9th grade to the summer after 11th grade with AP/IB/UC-approved Honors/community college courses carrying an extra grade point; for the purpose of admission evaluation, UCLA looks at unweighted and fully weighted GPA - no GPA cap)

From their website, they do cap at 8 AP

How does UC calculate the GPA of a high school applicant who is a California resident?

In calculating the GPA for admission consideration, UC uses all UC-approved “a-g” courses a student took between the summer before 10th grade through the summer following 11th grade. Additionally, UC will grant up to eight semesters (with no more than four semesters coming from 10th grade) of honors weight for grades of C or better in AP, IB, UC-approved Honors Level, and transferable college courses.

Grades and test scores are matches for most UCs. However, for UCB and UCLA your personal statement is weighed heavily since the schools attract thousands of strong applicants with grades & test scores like you. The deciding factor will be how well you write your personal statement and allow the reader to understand why and how you stand out of the crowd of all the other applicants.

As a UCB and UCLA admit, your scores and grades are really poor. I wouldn’t count on it; try aiming for Davis.
