UC GPA inflated?

The average accepted GPA is pretty high, but the SAT is shockingly low.

Berkeley and UCLA both have an average of 4.3 GPA, but at my school, people with that GPA get 2300s.

Well, since the UCs calculate GPA differently, 4.3 is probably to be expected (given their method of calculation-maybe some kind soul will post a link, since I don’t have the site bookmarked).

My theory:
The UC’s only weight 8 semesters (4 classes) in the UC gpa. This results is many ppl who are aiming for the top UCs to take it “easy”, aka only 4 honors/ap classes sophmore+junior year, thus maximizing their chance of having extremely high uc gpas.

Your “theory” is incorrect. Senior schedule is one of the 5/6 criteria for admissions. “UC gpa”, which is capped a 8 bonus points, is used solely for admissions eligibility. The UC app readers will also see your uncapped gpa and rank against other applicants from your school.

To the skies!

still not sure…
