Hey all....I've posted before, but here are my updated stats:
UC GPA is 3.26 down from an overall weighted GPA of 3.6. SAT = 1960 (640 CR, 630 M, 690 W)

SAT II= literature 600, US history, 650, 600 math II

I've gone to a VERY academic California Catholic school. GPA is KILLING me, I know, but please chance me for:

UCSB, UCSD, UCSC and UCI

Also considering USC, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, and Princeton.

Kidding on the last one, just wanted to make sure you were awake! :)

UCSD: Large Reach
(your SAT is about average for their admits, but your GPA is a lot, lot lower than their average admit GPA of 4.04. Your UC GPA takes you out of the running for admission to UCSD).

USC: Large Reach
(Although I believe you can use your 3.6 GPA to USC not sure if USC caps their GPA computations instead of your 3.26 UC GPA, USC's average SAT is over 2000, and has an average GPA of 4.02. Your GPA takes you out of the running for admission to USC as well).

UCI/UCSB: Slight Reach-Reach
(Your SAT is well above UCI/UCSB's average admit SAT of slightly over 1800. Your UC GPA, however is significantly below UCI/UCSB's average admit of just around 3.9. This makes UCI somewhere between a slight reach-reach).

UCSC: Match
(Your UC GPA is somewhat below UCSC's average admit GPA of 3.6, but your SAT score is significantly higher than UCSC's average admit score of 1600-1700. This makes you a match or better for Santa Cruz).

Loyola Marymount: Match-Safe Match

Pepperdine: Match

I would also apply to USD if you are interested in private schools. Your stats would make you around a match their as well. Best of luck.

The statistics the UCs give out are based on the weighted GPA rather than the UC GPA (to make it look higher I guess). The average GPA for UCI/UCSB is around a 3.86 or so, so you're not too far off from that.

Hey all, Thanks for your replies, your insight is very helpful to me.
I should have played the game better in High School. This is what I get....my parents (not college educated, but have great careers) put noooo pressure on me for grades. So all of you that complain about pressure, don't. I think I took a little too long to pull my head up from out of the sand. My only hope now is that my essay might give me an edge. I'm also 1/2 Hispanic, but does that even help anymore? Also,,,,,, UCSC is sounding good to me know so I'll hope on that one.
Any thoughts on University of the Pacific?

The GPA UC's put out on their admission site (universityofcalifornia.edu), I believe, are capped weighted GPA's (UC GPA). They are not uncapped weighted GPA's.
