If I am only interested in applying to UCs, and taking a couple classes that are non-UC transferrable then it would not matter what grade I am receiving in those classes right (because it wont affect my UC GPA)? does UCLA look at both your overall GPA and UC GPA or just the UC GPA?

UCs only care about UC gpa

For graduate schools your overall gpa will matters

Take those classes Pass/Not pass instead

Uc's only use UC gpa. So you can take your classes that you think is fun.

thats good to know! thanks =)

only UC GPA

"UCLA: The role of the GPA in admissions depends on the major. For applicants to majors in all Life Sciences, Economics and Psychology, both the overall GPA and the GPA for the courses required for major preparation are considered in the selection process. In other majors, only the overall UC-transferable GPA is considered."

By OVERALL GPA- UCLA means UC transferable GPA. Not over CC gpa.
