which one matters more for certain UCs?

UCLA considers it. But even then, it’s not a huge factor compared to overall GPA.

That’s kind of disheartening in my circumstance haha

I thought UC’s don’t consider overall GPA since overall GPA can include basic courses, CSU transferrable units, etc?

I believe they do look at major GPA. It’s in their criteria

when i met with a UCLA admissions officer, the first thing she did was calculate my major GPA

UC’s do consider overall GPA. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say…but they only look at your transferable units. If you took classes that only articulate to CSU’s then they won’t be used in calculating your overall UC Transfer GPA.

They do take it into account. But when I spoke with an admission’s officer from UCLA, she did say that they look into major GPA as a factor but it is not as important as the overall GPA. Kind of makes sense, right? 3.2 GPA student for Psychology applies and has a 4.0 major GPA. Is the 4.0 really that forgiving over a 3.2? Who knows.
