UC grading policy

I received an A- in my Psych class, when I calculated GPA on UC application, is the A- counted as 4.0 or 3.8?

^ I believe it's counted as an A since the UC's don't use +'s or -'s.

The Uc's count + and -'s i don't know what the hell you're talking about. An A- is a 3.7. Some schools have different grading scales where anything above 90 is a 4.0 but other schools like De Anza use the +/- system. Take a look here: http://faculty.deanza.edu/nickeldon/stories/storyReader$28

3.7

a, a+ 4.0

UC's do count +'s and -'s. trust me on that one.

So if my community college doesn't use +/-'s will I be penilized in my GPA?

It only matters if YOUR community college uses the +/- system.

when in a UC the +/- are used.

When at a CC it is just what your CC uses.

If you get an A- then on the application to apply to UC your grade is an A- and your gpa will be calculated respectively.

If you get an A (and it is like a 90.9%) in a class at CC and your CC says A on your transcript then it is an A. (this is the main reason why a lot of people enter and or apply with 4.0 gpas, not because they really have 4.0 but because their CCs do not use a +/- system) This also accounts for the lowered grades most CC students have once at UC.
