UC Irvine Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

I cannot answer. You need an expert in these fields. But assuming you can get into the courses (which may be hard) you might be able to. I’m sorry I can’t give a better answer.

@Zeropho : I finished O-Chem, but I didn’t take any Physics courses. My counselor said that the chance that I can get into Chem E (College of Engineering) is really low. That’s why I had to apply to UC as Chemistry ( College of Letter & Science)

does anyone have any idea on how competitive public health policy is as a major, or do you guys know any students in the past who have gotten? and if so, around what GPA did they have?

Anyone who TAG’d hear back yet? My goodness.

@anikom15 not yet for me. I’m hoping we will hear back next week.
what major did you tag?

@Anxiety2015 : Yeah I applied for chemistry instead of chem E as well because of the courses.

So if they asked for my Winter grades, is that a good sign?

Lepahmon, According to Lindy it doesn’t matter, but as I mentioned earlier a counselor used my winter grades when calculating my gpa, which she did over the phone. According to Lindy this counselor was “wrong”, but I’m going to suggest it’s dependent on timing and a case by case situation. I would think the request to see your winter grades is in fact a good sign, but who really knows?

Anyone get the scholarship email for the Chau Minh Luu scholarship? It says that I must be admitted to apply, but I don’t have a decision yet. I wish UCI would just tell me already

Haha, I knew I would get blowback. I’m psychic! They will CONSIDER the grades, which means if you get an A, they will look at it and probably give you a big thumbs up. However, they will not calculate those grades into the overall GPA. The rules are very firm: it ends after fall. It’s written directly by the UC. I’m not going to engage in an argument with someone who has a history of baiting me.

So, @lepahom, yes it’s a very good sign because they want to CONSIDER the grades, which means they like you and want to see how you did in winter.

P.S. There was someone about three months ago who wrote some vile stuff about my family and attacked my daughter (who posted one time only) in a most vicious manner, on this site. He did not know my family or me. The person rightfully got suspended for a long long time. I’m not going to go into it because it was disgusting. I’m just putting it out there because it’s something I remember.

Talk about “baiting”, lol. Moving on.

Just release the TAG decisions already.

@fullload the comma goes inside the quotes. @lindyk8 is right. I have asked several counselors and they all say it ends with fall grades.

No one is debating where the cut off is. I know it’s Fall. I’m just sharing the experience I had with a counselor. All I’m suggesting is, Winter grades can be reviewed as part of the decision process.

Thanks for the grammar catch, I type too fast sometimes.

@rmalani thats the question of the year for me as well. Seems like the cut off is around a 3.3/3.4, but I am basing that off of former forum post. I wouldn’t take that as fact.

@lindyk8 is correct about the use of Fall grades for calculating the admission GPA. Some schools use the semester system, and some the quarter system. I guess it would not be entirely fair if some applicants had extra quarter grades added to their GPAs, while others did not. It’s a good sign if they ask to see your quarter grades, though. Means you are still under consideration.

@lindyk8 Sorry to hear you and your daughter had to put up with some immature and crass individual. You are so helpful to many appreciative people, and no one should have to deal with that behavior.

Thx @daviscowsrule! I like you because I love cows. 'Nuff said.

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately I had a pretty rough teacher for my winter Calc class and I only got a C. Should of taken an easier teacher lol :’(

Quick question, what’s UCI known for, what do they offer?
