So basically I wanna apply as a biology major to the UCs but idk what to write for how I’ve prepared for my major because im taking the bio series next fall and have no available research opportunities near me. Any ideas or help will be appreciated. I was thinking about doing an independent study but idk how I could pull that off considering I don’t have the equipment. Does anyone know what else I can say for that part?
Are you a transfer applicant or freshman applicant?
for undegrad, I’d think just performing well in the classroom stuff should be fine. Especially at the TAG schools.

that should help you with the GPA threshold.
@Gumbymom yea im a transfer applicant
@NCalRent thanks! I know for TAG school I’ll be okay, but I really want to shoot for UCLA.
The reason I asked if you are a transfer is that posting your question in the UC transfer forum may get you more helpful information. I will move this thread to the UC Transfer forum for you.
Thanks @Gumbymom! One thing to keep in mind, seeing as you are starting the bio series in what appears to be your sophomore year, just make sure a good chunk of your major reqs are completed by fall. Too many left for winter or spring can be a setback.
I will be completing my bio, calc, and organic chem throughout my sophomore year and will be done by spring 2020. I’m just mainly worried about my essay for that prompt.
