UC Irvine Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@Queserasera04, I got into UCSD as an OOS transfer and I don’t think I had many of the required classes either. I think berkeley is the biggest stickler and it also depends on your major, but I bet you have good chance to UCI if you have a decent GPA. Good luck!

So I applied to UCI as a Chemical Engineering major, transferring from a local community college. Having finished all the classes required for the first year right after you transfer, I decided to take the first series of thermodynamics classes (CBEMS 45A, 45B, 45C) this year in the hopes that 1) I will transfer in as a junior rather than a sophomore, and 2) that it should give me some sort of advantage to make up for a lack in GPA.

Does anyone know anything about this and what my chances are, I’m super anxious.

I called UCI and they said that they have already sent out notifications and I explained that I was pretty sure they had only sent out Regent decisions and she became very flustered. I think they are under a lot of pressure right now.

Amanda, she probably thought you were asking about Freshmen.

We’ll find out eventually. It’s all gooooooooodddddd. SIR’s aren’t due until June anyway. Knowing this, still doesn’t keep me from checking portals every couple hours between classes.

This wait is killing me. Can’t do any hw or studying. Smh

The threads have been fairly quiet since all those people got into UCLA.

^true that

I think the 24th will be a good day!

I can’t wait for the 24th to get here. I think I’ll go to UCSD anyway but I really want to know and get going with the planning.

Same here haha

Wow uci is struggling…

I’m going to go ahead and predict a wave of admittance’s tomorrow evening starting at 6:17 PM. Also, everyone who’s posted on this forum will be admitted.

~Positive Vibes~

Can someone give me some input on my chances at getting admitted to UCI PLEASE?!

I’m a junior transfer and I applied to UCI under the major Chemistry. I did not take the Organic Chemistry sequence yet, but finished the general chemistry sequence and currently on the last Biology class for the biology sequence and I already finished my IGETC classes. I had an average gpa, but last fall I screwed up and received a F in my calc III class, which dropped me to a 2.96. I’m currently retaking this class and doing so much better. You think I still have a chance?

I’m just so anxious and stressed that I can’t stop thinking about the decisions. Because of that one failing grade, it weighs my whole gpa down, therefore affecting admittance to the other UC’s. UCI is really my only hope. What do you guys think?

@Solstice1 With your stats, your chances seem pretty low in my opinion. I mean there’s a chance of getting in, but I think it’s slim. You’re missing the entire organic chemistry component and your GPA is under a 3. I’m wishing you the best of luck though! Hope you get in.

@Solstice1 Kind of hard to say… 2.96 isn’t terrible but it’s not typically a UC gpa. Chem is a hard major so I believe they are a bit more easier when it does come to grades, however having an F puts you in a really tough situation. Did you state in your application that you were retaking the class you failed? I wouldn’t give up hope yet

@Solstice1 LMAO I have the exact situation as you. I did not take the O chem series and got a D in calc 3. However I retook the class and got an A. Now just waiting on UCI to admit people already…

Can someone chance me please?! A junior transferring from CCC. My major is sociology and I have igetc and my prereqs completed. My gpa is a 3.12 :-S any input is appreciated!

@collegetoday Yeah, I stated that I’m retaking the class but since I’m taking it right now they can’t really see that I’m doing way better without the final grades out in June. It might be too late for me :frowning: Maybe I can appeal if I get denied and mention my new Calc III grade?

@Zeropho Did you retake the class last semester? I’m currently retaking it now, so whatever my replaced grade will be, they wont be able to see it D: Best of luck to you though! I hope you get in.
