UC Irvine Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@ahccrunner lol if I get admitted (sad face)…

I can’t log in to my uci portal, does this mean anything? I’m probably starting to get delusional at this point lol

Transfer student here,

Accepted (as a Junior) on Friday 24th, late at night. (Assuming the notification email was sent within a reasonable time-frame)

Major: Software Engineering
GPA: 3.5
TAG: Yes
Prereq: Transfer prereq met, AS-T, ~90 Units.
Essays: I’m pretty proud of one my essays, and the other was fairly decent. All personal opinion of course, who knows how they are being interpreted by the counselor.

Happy they came through before the deadline, with CSU SOI looming around the corner I was starting to question the process. Seems many people see it the same way… Nonetheless, it looks like the TAG applicants are seeing some of the first responses. By the way, I know a few others who applied, but they haven’t received answers. Has anyone heard anything about Chem. Engineering? Thanks for any future insight and good luck to everyone!

@ayymig
Is it denying you access completely, or displaying some system error? I have no issues logging in currently.

@WinterRose I really hope that no Ochem doesn’t completely disqualify you. Because I’m in the same boat, ecology/ evolutionary biology was also my secondary. Ayyyy! Why didn’t I just go for underwater basket weaving?!

@Egoist92 its denying access completely

@ayymig
Well, that’s pretty ridiculous for that to happen during this process. Not sure if it’s relevant to your admission, as I wasn’t checking my status immediately before I received my decision. Although, its probably better not to speculate…

yeah, you’re right @Egoist92 . Thank you for your input!

@ahccrunner okay I’ll be on the look out for that! Thank you so much!! I hope everyone gets into the school they want. I know I’m probably driving myself bonkers just waiting to know what the decision is! Lol Congrats to everyone who got accepted!!

Do they usually send out acceptances on weekends?

@boredandconfused I doubt it :confused: just have to wait till tomorrow

@WinterRose how did you contact a counselor? Im trying to contact, but I dont want to contact through my admissions.

So nothing on weekends then. Is it possible they get sent out Monday morning or is it after a business day?

Chemical Engineer here accepted Friday around 5pm or 6pm.
No TAG
3.58 UC G.P.A
All Pre-Reqs done except Organic Chemistry.
Instead of C programming I took C++

ok next batch of people will rejections

I got accepted as a Bio major, but didn’t not finish ochem 2.
One of my provisions was to complete the ochem series. Any advice of what I should do so I won’t be denied? UCR already revoked my admission :(.
Is it possible I can ask admissions to change my major to chemistry or complete it during summer school?
thanks for any info.

Nope next batch will be a mix with rejections and wait lists. I hope I end up on the wait list at least

@ultraattitude
I was also scared so I did that…but I messaged the admissions rather than speaking on the phone, since I don’t have time on the weekdays from early morning til 5pm or 7pm since I only have a 10 min passing period in between.

I hope you get in… but I would call them to confirm if you weren’t completely disqualify for the major if you didn’t complete ochem.

@QueSeraSera04
I hope not as well. I wished it was stated much clearer in what we need…compared to what the admissions said to me…but when it mentions ALL applications, I get confuse with that part and the first sentence…

“Transfer students: Junior-level applicants with the highest grades overall and who satisfactorily complete course prerequisites will be given preference for admission. All applicants must complete one year of general chemistry with laboratory with grades of C or better; one year of organic chemistry with grades of C or better; one year of biology courses equivalent to BIO SCI 93, BIO SCI 94 at UCI with a grade of C or better in each course; and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.”

@shch7898
I contacted through myadmissions because it was easier that way and that I needed to contact through message since it was about my application.

But I believe you can contact by phone:

UCI Resources: http://www.admissions.uci.edu/applicants/resources/index.html
List of Schools: http://www.admissions.uci.edu/applicants/resources/academic_counseling.html
Biological Science Counselors (I think you can e-mail?): http://www.bio.uci.edu/undergraduates/contact-us/

i hope we hear back tomorrow…

@adrian1994

I would like to say congratulations in getting accepted. :slight_smile:

Are you currently taking ochem 2…or if I am reading it correctly, you haven’t…?
Since it is a required course for your major, I would contact them asap about what are your choices/alternatives and the possibility of changing your major.

That was one of my main concerns…the necessary required courses…for the provisions…
