So I got accepted to UC Irvine!! Thanks God! But I have heard that you don’t have the college experience at all! I do know that they have excellent academic studies! But as a Soccer Goalkeeper and a National’s Winner, nonacademic stuff really interest me! I am not a party guy, but I do like going to parties once every 2 or 3 weeks! I do care that the environment has a college mood and that it’s a really nice mood! Moreover, what about the campus? Dorms?
Any response is really appreciated! Thanks
I am really concerned about this as well.
The UC Irvine thread seems to be so dead lol.
We have spent a lot of time at the UCI campus (son played soccer there many many weekends his junior and senior years). I think it does have a little more of a commuter atmosphere than some other campuses, but I am not sure if that is a legitimate observation. We walked around the campus often while passing the time. There always seemed to be a lot of activity on campus on the weekends (in student areas) and there were always a lot of students on campus on the weekends. I don’t know anything about nightlife, although it does not seem to have a local off-campus “student housing area” (like UCSB has IV). Nearby housing seem to be a mix of students and young professionals. That being said, it is a beautiful campus in an area of near-perfect weather. The dorms look beautiful on the outside at least. You can find a social life on any campus if you get involved and don’t stay in your room all the time. UCI has a competitive soccer club team that you might look at and also has a lot of intramural sports- always a good way to meet people. You will get a great education there and will find plenty to do.
@takeitallin
Thanks for your reply! I will be dorming that’s for sure! I really want to have the college experience though! I’m sure I will have a great academic experience because it’s a top class university! I did apply to other Unis such as Purdue UMich! I still didn’t receive any decision from them but it’s probably knocking the door! i do get what you’re saying but the word COMMUTER being said about UC Irvine in every single discussion worries me…
Any other opinions ?
@Moealthahabi That’s very weird because most of their decisions are out already!
Commuter campus means that the majority of students leave the campus on weekends.
I know it does have more of that commuter reputation but like I said, everytime we walked around on weekends there were a lot of students around and activities going on. I don’t know much else than what we observed.
Thousands of students live on and very near campus. There are Frats, clubs, a slew of men’s and women’s inter-collegiate sports, IM sports, on campus rec facilities and then there’s Orange County and the beach.
There will be plenty to do in your off hours.
Tour the school and see for yourself.
Thanks all! I really appreciate you responses they do really help! I will tour the campus really soon to check the dorms and everything! I applied late that’s why I got the decisions late! I think I’m gonna be attending UCI. I hope so! I really like it so far! Moreover, I hope I’ll be good enough for the Soccer team! Heard they are really doing well!
Glad it’s working out for you. Good luck with soccer too.
