UC Irvine Undergraduate Business Program

Thank you for reading my post, hello.
I currently am a high school junior. I have a 4.25 weighted GPA, 3.9 Unweighted. I currently am taking 2 AP classes and one honors course. I am hoping my weighted GPA will go up to a 4.35 by the end of this school year with the classes I am taking. I have been involved in my sport, CSF, school newspaper, and Cakes 4 kids all for 4 years. I’ve been in Members at Large for 3 years. I am a squad leader for my sport (hopefully captain next year) and have been an editor for 2 years (going to be editor in chief this next semester). I have been working since the summer after freshman year (15 and a half) at the same place, 2 days a week. I just recently took the SAT and got a 1210, which I am aiming to raise by June to anywhere around a 1400 (fingers crossed). I have been really nervous with how little acceptances have been given to this university, especially since it is an impacted major. Can anyone weigh my chances? Any suggestions to what I should do more of please let me know.

Is your weighted GPA, your UC GPA (capped weighted) since that is what UCI will use for admission purposes?

UC GPA calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

The UC GPA calculator (capped weighted) uses only grades from 10-11th a-g courses and gives you extra honors points for up to 8 semesters of UC approved Honors/AP/IB or DE courses.

Acceptance rate for Business Admin 2017: 22.3%
Average SAT: 1316
Average UC GPA (capped weighted): 4.08

This gives you an idea of what stats to shoot for if you want the best chances.

How applications are reviewed:

  • Irvine

  • Very important: Academic GPA, Application essay, Extracurricular activities, Level of applicant's interest, Rigor of secondary school record, Standardized test scores, Talent/ability, Volunteer work, Work experience
  • Important: Character/personal qualities, Class rank
  • Considered: First generation college student, Geographical residence, State residency
  • Note: Demonstrated record of academic preparation, educational engagement, talent and skills important.

My capped UC GPA is a 4.17

You are doing well so work on bumping up your SAT scores to at least the average or above. UCI admits into the University first and then into the major, so make sure you select an alternate major you are willing to study just in case you are not accepted into the Business Admin major.

Best of luck.
