Please tell me what my changes are of getting accepted into UC Irvine or maybe UC Santa Barbara based on my grades.

Thank You =D

Good chance, even if you're out-of-state. What are your SAT scores? I'd say you'd need an 1800 in-state and a 1900 out-of-state.

Definitely a good chance assuming your EC's and SAT Scores match up as well.

If you go 4.0 (weighted) again this semester, your UC GPA is around 3.96.

The average admit UC GPA for UCI and UCSB is around 3.87 to 3.88, with a SAT score of around 1850-1900 (that's for in-state students).

At this point, I'd focus on your grades this year, your test scores (take the SAT in June if possible--and then again in October if necessary) and your extracurricular activities, since the UCs only care about what courses you are taking in your senior year--and not so much the GPA during that year--although you can't just goof off and start getting Cs.

You need to have ECs that show leadership, teamwork, a passion for something in particular, good academics, and some volunteer work.

As far as getting in with those scores from out-of-state; --that is unlikely unless the SATs are much better--like 2050 to 2100 or above.

Best of success.

I don't get how you can have a 4.0 when you get Bs...

Anyway, UCI and UCSB are matches (lack of ECs but good GPA).

Why would you even post this.... Your chance thread should be "What are my chances of me NOT getting into UCI or UCSB"

obviously you're in

If you look at the grades (and not at the GPA posted), you'll see that the OP has given his/her UC GPA here, not the unweighted GPA. (he/she's putting down a 4.0 in some semesters since she's counting Bs as As in honor/AP courses).

For this reason, it's not so guaranteed that this person will be accepted--especially if the test grades aren't up to par, or if there are no ECs pursued.

Still, I expect him/her to get in also--since I think the OP will do okay on the test scores--and still has time to work on the ECs.

Thanks for your input you guys!!

As for extracirricular activities:

Ever since I was young, I have done choir twice a week.

For freshman year, I was part of the Asian Pacific Islander Club
For sophomore year, I was an officer for the Alzheimer's Awareness Club (it started that year)
For Junior Year, I was new to the school. I wasn't aware of what activities and clubs they offered. However, I am part of Key Club. As of now, I am participating as a crew member in a school play.

I have not taken my SAT yet but I will be taking it next week.

I was wondering, would it ruin my chances of getting into UCI or UCSB if I put "undeclared" as my major. Could I change it after I get accepted?

Oh, and by the way, I do live in California

kyledavid80 asked how could i get a 4.0 if i got B's.
With honors and ap classes, I get one extra grade point on my gpa.

I don't think applying as undeclared hurts your chances of getting in. And yes it's easy to switch to most majors once you get in. Your GPA is good while your EC's are lacking. I'd suggest doing some community service over the summer or get a job or internship. If you do those things and get an 1800+ on the SAT you'll give yourself a good shot at getting into UCI.

As far as UCSB goes, I think it was a little more difficult to get into this year. I got into UCI but was rejected by UCSB so it's weird how it works out.

Also don't forget you need to take 2 SAT II subject tests for the UC's.
