Uc irvine?!

i live in OC so irvine is very familiar to me. did you guys ever regret going to a school close to home? btw, i am choosing between University of Washington Seattle and UCI. i don't know if i should sacrifice $$$ just for a some new scenery. I think the two have comparable academics so that is not the problem either...just two completely different cities and completely different tuition $.

also feedback from alumni of both schools is welcome...experiences, etc.

I am from orange county also, and I go to UCI.

Honestly, being close to home was something I was really worried about. I was in the same situation as you; I could either go to a school far away for a lot of money or stay in the OC for less.

Ultimately, I am happy with my decision. Being so close to home really doesn’t matter. No one is forcing you to go home all the time, so you can feel like you’re really far away if you want.

Plus, there are huge advantages to being close. I was sick last quarter, and my mom was able to come get me and take me to our family doctor. Do you know how much it would have sucked to have suffered through that alone? Also (i know it doesn’t seem like it now), sometimes you can grow tired of the dorms and begin to miss your family, as well as the luxury of a house.

how do you like UCI? can you tell me a little bit about what life is like as an anteater? how often would you say that you go home? what is there to do during free time? thanks!!

i got in uw and irvine as well

have you visited uw?
its really beautiful but the weather is not so nice if you are used to socal’s weather

(i live near irvine too)
but ive decided to go to davis because i really dont want to stay in socal for the next 4years

so you wont go to UW because of the weather? it visited the campus and it really made me want to go there. but i dont know how i would fare socially (i come from a small private school) with so many students. when i visited it was pretty sunny…i guess that was kind of misleading…guess i might go to UCI…

not because of the weather
but because of financial issue
i still havent received my financial aid package from uw
but i know oos basically gets nothing

yeah the OOS tuition is so ridiculous. if it were the same as irvine, i think there is no doubt i would be going there…can u tell me a little bit about irvine?

i have several friends who are attending uci and most of them love it
i think uci is convenient because its near everything
(i personally did not like the campus when i visited)

but if you can afford uw definetly go there!
college is the time to go out and explore!

U Dub is great, but not at that much extra cost. Go to UCI.
