I was accepted to both. I live in California, so tuition at Irvine ($8,000) is much more affordable than Washington ($20,000+). I visited Washington and it has a beautiful campus and would be a new adventure, but I also don't know anyone there. Irvine's campus seems bland and not very diverse but it is a short drive away from home, so my family would be very close. However, I would not get to experience something "completely new." Please, any advice is welcome...

U-Dub is a great college in a wonderful city. It has D1 sports and a lot of school spirit (if you can about such things). UCI is rather bland, and its rather quiet on the weekends. But, it too has excellent academics, including top-notch programs in Comp Sci and Comp Lit. However, it’s extremely diverse (<50% non-white).

University of Washington- Seattle would be my choice over the two universities. Though University of California- Irvine is a lot more affordable.
