UC maximum transfer credit limitation policy(science major)???

I am going to apply for biology major at UCSD, and after nearly completing the IGETC I find out my total units will be more than 86.5 units once I finish the major pre-requirs (on assist.org). And I find this link online, which seems to tell me that I cannot take over 90 units to get admitted. (As it shows, high-unit juniors>90 will not be admitted for most schools)

<a href="http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/uc-transfer-maximum-limitation-policy-chart.pdf">http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/uc-transfer-maximum-limitation-policy-chart.pdf</a></p>

But in most circumstances, science major requires a lot science classes which will make students take over 90 units, or even more(including the IGETC). Did I misunderstand this? Can someone answer the question?

can someone explain this??? :-/

If all of your units were completed at a community college, then you’re fine. In order to reach Senior status, you have to take some upper division courses, which you can’t do at community college. Only 70 lower division units will transfer over. The additional units will be used to give you subject credit, but they will not actually transfer over.

Thank you! that was helpful. Does that mean I need to repeat the same course material that are not transfered over once enter the new university?

No. They will give you credit in the sense that you have fulfilled whichever requirements. You just won’t receive numerical credit beyond 70 semester units.
