UC Merced or UT Dallas

Hi guys. I’m a high school senior who just got into both UC Merced and UT Dallas for Cognitive Science.
If anyone has any tips or helpful advice to help with this decision process, please let me know.

I’m trying to understand a few things in comparison.

  • How is the cogsci department? how accessible are the professors?
  • how difficult is it to get internships within the schools? how is the competition?
  • how difficult is the subject itself? if anyone has taken cog sci, what is something you wish you would have better prepared before hand?

Don’t discount the biology and chemistry background needed. Review using crash course and Khan academy.
A bit of cs can be useful for majors but it may be included in your major already.
The major is rigorous and the colleges are good.
Did you get Honors/Regents anywhere? If you’re not in honors you’ll have to be proactive to find a position in a lab - at first you won’t do much but it’ll be a stepping stone for you.
Are both within budget without loans?
