UC Merced Vs UCR

I don't know which one to choose, can any one help me. My major is Computer Science AND Engineering, and it is only offered at UC Merced, UCR only offers Computer Science OR Computer Engineering (i prefer to be in CS and Eng). But UC Merced is a really small school, and i think it might be like doing high school all over again(because so few people attend and isn't it surrounded by farms and cows, and there really isn't that big of a college town, it more rural), but then again UC Merced could become one of the great UC's in 15 years. And how good is UC Merced in Computer Science And engineering, (They are not accredited yet either though). And does UCR have a good computer science department, whose is better? So my main question is should i choose UCR or UC Merced (considering my major for both). Thanks

Did you try and see if you can double major in Computer Science and Computer Engineering?

well i know riverside has one of the top engineering departments.
i don't know anything about merced though.

Quite simply put, UC Merced is beautiful, has a low student to faculty ratio and that is all it has going for it. The lack of accreditation would rule out UC Merced completely for me. If it's not accredited good luck getting into grad school outside of the UC system.

UC Riverside, I hate where it's located, but ultimately it is a wiser choice until Merced is accredited in my opinion.

Both are good but UCM needs to be accredited. If you plan on a Graduate Degree this could be a problem. If not then talk to the professors and see who you like the most. Relationships is the key to your future success.

Riverside's Comp Sci encompasses Computer Engineer, CS is CE and more here. And as reputations go UCR is better than Merced. So Riverside is the right choice.

Uh what do you mean?

UCM is accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges)

But I agree, between Riverside and Merced,I'd go with Riverside.

ucm is NOT accredited by wasc
it expects to be in july2011
so ucr.
sorry for bump..:]

Merced is going to be another pothead school like UCSC. All of the norCal schools so many potheads.

UC Merced is not accredited by ABET!!! That's all it matters! UCR's location is really a big concern, but it's engineering program is still one of the best in the country, I would choose UCR instead! (especially their CS program, so much better than merced, far better)

WASC*
ucr's location isnt even a big deal i took a tour there it was really pretty
