UC merit aid

Do you the UC's require Cal Grant GPA Verif and FAFSA to finalize merit aid (like a Regent's), if the student won't qualify for need-based aid?

negative. Alumni scholarships and Regents are not based on need, so Fafsa not required.

Okay, I'm confused about whether you have to do something beyond admissions application for UC merit money. Am I right that the Regents has no special app and they contact you? Do others (Alumni or other) require special app or do they just contact you at some point based on your admissions application? Are deadlines coming up?

Please answer this ever so important question, someone, please!

There is no separate application for the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship. Everyone who applies to UC Berkeley is considered. Although this scholarship is a merit-based award, need determines the amount of money given. I believe the scholarship covers everything but family contribution. If your FAFSA EFC covers the entire cost of attending the university, an award of $1,000 or so is still given.

Most if not all other scholarships require their own applications. The deadline for the Alumni Scholarship application if February 15 for incoming students.

Definitely apply for the Alumni scholarship, they are a great group and it is not need based, so does not affect other aid.
