UC or not?

Hi I'm currently a HS student and I wanted the honest opinion of any parent, student, teacher etc.
I have a 3.67 academic unweighted GPA and a 4.2 academic weighted GPA. The reason it's so crappy is because I went through some problems which affected my grades and I ended up retaking a class after failing, but I don't think universities would care about that. I'm currently in the HS Orchestra, an active member of my school's Model UN club, Writers' Guild, Spoken Word, Key Club, NHS, and Polynesian Club and president of three clubs (one of which I founded). I also started an independent student run online magazine that is not a part of my High School. I scored a 2250 on my SATs and range between 700s-800s on 3 SAT Subject tests. Additionally, I scored a 4 or 5 on all 10 AP exams I took. I even have 300+ volunteer hours, plus a summer internship at Kaiser Permanente. I'm aiming for UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and I'm applying for some IVYs. Would I be able to get accepted into these universities? The reason I am asking this is because it has been my dream since I was a little girl to be accepted into a great university but some of my fellow peers and teachers suggested that it would be difficult for me because of my GPA. I talked to my counselor about this and he said he that the schools that I'm applying to are compatible and I may not be accepted. I got one F and three Cs first semester of my sophmore year, however I retook the class I got an F in and passed with an A. My counselor said because of this flaw it brings me down as an individual. I'm just really worried about this. I was severely depressed during this period so I was able to perform as well as I could have. Now my failure is coming back to haunt me and I don't know what to do. This is the only semester where my academic performance was really poor. Can anyone tell me if they honestly think I have a chance? And I don't want a link to the page that give statistics of acceptances. I have already seen them for countless universities.

The ivies will be a high reach, but they always are.
UCB and UCLA will be mid to low reaches. Your GPA really hurts for these schools, but if you write good personal statements you should have a shot. Your extracurriculars really help too.
UCD and UCI will be high matches. Once again your GPA hurts, but with a good essay you should have a shot.
Why aren’t you applying to UCSD?
You should also apply to some of the lower tier UCs and CSUs just to be safe. Cal Poly SLO, UCSB, UCR, UCSC, etc.

I am applying to all UCs. I just named a few of them.

Those are pretty impressive stats. I think you’ve got a good shot at the mid and lower UC. I’d encourage you to apply to a couple of CSUs because, UC admissions are somewhat subjective so, you never really know. You might also consider some privates like Santa Clara and USD, both are known to offer generous merit packages. Be sure to complete the a-g course list.

Good luck!

Good stats, I think the UCs are better bets than the Ivies. Sorry to say but I think your GPA is too low for all of them. You can check your admission status for UC Santa Barbara- it was available as of yesterday. People also got an email this weekend with the UCD admission status. I think you’re a pretty good candidate for both of those schools. UCI is also a match. UCLA/UCB are reaches, but you never know!! Good luck.
