UC Personal Essays incomplete

Hi. My friends and I are trying to transfer to a UC school. (We’re community college btw.)

My friend told me that she only filled out the mandatory prompt for the UC essays and that she left the other essay spaces in the application blank because she thought it was “optional”. I didn’t realize she had done this until after the application deadline. Will her application be rejected? Is it still considered? Or can she appeal?

I didn’t know you could submit missing them. However, not every UC looks at the essays for transfer students. Davis, Riverside, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz don’t use them. A little known fact.

I didn’t understand how she did that either. She said that rather than typing out responses, she pressed the space bar in those text boxes so that the application would allow her to move forward and review before submitting.

She misinterpreted the UC instructions and took it as 3/4 prompts were optional. So she only wrote an adequate response for the mandatory prompt
