uc personal statement

How have you taken advantage of the educational opportunities you have had to prepare for college?

Learning French at my high school was a great benefit because it created a foundation for me to endure much larger things. At first I was overwhelmed by the fact that it was a huge difference from the environment that I was accustomed to, fortunately I was able to adapt quickly. Before I took French I had a reserved personality, however, the class immediately changed my communication skills because the class emphasized on utilizing the language. In the beginning I did not know that there were so many different aspects of cultures and customs until I gained new insight from the friends I made. As a result of making numerous amounts of companions I constantly practice the language with them. I also became very inquisitive since I was so unfamiliar with the customs and culture. I would be willing to ask my teacher questions that she did not answer in class during my free time and I also took the chance to make sure if all my work was recorded. After taking French I will be seeking a more advanced challenge that I won’t have to worry about because I know that French has provided me with a glimpse of what to expect.

any suggestions?
