UC Psych Transfers 2016.

Since Psychology is one of the most impacted transfer majors around, I figured there would be enough of us around to talk about it a bit. Which schools are you applying to and what is your area of interest? Are you concerned about job prospects after school?

I’m fairly new to California, only having moved here last August. Most of my credits are from a Washington state CC. UCLA is the only UC that I applied to since we just moved to LA.

I’m hoping to transfer to UCI, and I’m happy to talk about this, I’m a little intimidated at the moment by the challenge of upper division UC work. After the BA I’m planning to go for a MSW, and I currently work in addiction treatment where there is tons of opportunity for people with the right background. What are your plans?

Applied to UCI for Psychology and Social Behavior, might minor in public health. Actually becoming a PA. Wanted to major in psyc instead of the typical bio/health sci majors. Currently finishing the last PA school prereq.

@BackNSchool83 From your posts lately, it looks like we’re in a similar boat! As far as my career goes, I’m hoping to end up in the Organizational Psychology/HR field. I’m totally intimidated by the upper division work! I think it will be much more interesting than these two+ years of pre-requisites.

I have applied to nine universities:

UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCI
UMich (Ann Arbor), UoM (Twin Cities), UIUC, Washu (St. Louis), Cornell.

I applied for a psych major except UCI. I applied to UCI for criminology & law major.

I am interested in most of the subarea of psychology.
Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Personal Psych, Experimental Psych, Industrial/Organizational Psych, Abnormal Psych, Education Psych… and so on yeah pretty much everything except bio psych (I am not a science person especially biology… even though I love social science)

I am not concerned about the job prospects, yet since I still have very long way to go (Ph.D.) I will be concerned when I need to be. Now I am just focusing on studying because it is what I need to focus on now.

I am now studying psychology at CC in California. However, I kind of want to transfer to one of out of state unis. since it is too expensive to live in California (and as an international student, tuition fee for UCs is like that of public schools’) and I want to try another environment! I am not sure, tho. I’m just waiting for any admission first, and then see where I want to be…
