UC ranking

So, does anyone who doesn’t attend Irvine think Irvine has a better reputation than San Diego? I mean, seriously…

Cal

UCLA

UCSD

I don’t attend UCI and I think its better than SD.

Many of my friends have graduated from UC’s and we all agree on this order…

1 UCB

2 UCLA (but most would rather go to UCLA)

gap

3UCSD

gap
UCD
UCI
UCSB
gap
UCSC
UCR
UCM

Macgruber either holds bias form being raised in L.A. or he is just one of very few with an incorrect opinion. Yes, I know opinions can’t be incorrect, but in this case it is wrong. This argument has become ridiculous. We all know where the UC’s stand. UCSD is better, considerably better, than UCI. Many people have made the tiers that we are familiar with, and they are correct. UCSD is better than UCI and will continue to be better than UCI. No more argument.

A better argument is between UCI, UCD, and UCSB. Of course, UCI supporters have proven to be ignorantly loyal to this point, so it is probably another argument that will end up as petty and pointless as this one.

Davis and Santa Barbara students seem to be OK with where their school is, and Irvine students desperately want to be higher.

Well said Dem Bones and LogicWarrior. Most students seem to be okay with where their school is ranked. You dont hear UCR, UCM, or UCSC students claiming their schools are mid tier, and you dont hear UCSD students claim their school is better than UCLA or Cal. However, these UCI loyalists ignore all credible rankings to place their school at number 3, when they should be arguing that their school is the lone number 4. That could be a legit argument.

Berkeley students are insecure about the possibility of UCLA overtaking them, some UCSD students say that UCSD’s on par with UCLA, UCLA students love their school, UCSC students love their school, Riverside students hate their school, and Merced students have nothing to do because they’re in Merced.

So the best schools are LA, Davis, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz because the others are full of complainers. Next best are UCSD and Berkeley because they’re only half full of complainers. Then comes UC Riverside and Irvine, and then Merced.

I’m soooo bored to actually do this:

1 UCB

2 UCLA

gap

3UCSD

gap
UCD=UCI
UCSB
gap
UCSC
gap
UCR
UCM

Does anyone really disagree with this?

1 UCB

UCLA
UCI

UC Sh1t Diego

*Does anyone really disagree with this? *

Yeah, I don’t really understand putting UCSB below Davis and Irvine. SB has the same US News rank as those other two, almost the same enrolled student statistics (except UCSB students have higher SAT scores), better graduation rate, better alumni giving rate, etc. That’s not even including other factors like location and social atmosphere.

I like how experiment put the huge cap between Cal and UCLA, lol.

I have to somewhat agree with logic though, I seem to hear more people just happy to go to UCLA or get into UCLA. A lot of the people who get into Cal are so quick to state its “prestige” as their reasoning for picking it. They also continuously try and remind themselves and everyone else how much better it is than everything else.

While I only went to Cal once, it seemed people on the campus where far less happy and enthusiastic as those who go to UCLA, UCI, and UCSD.

Seems like all of the sources out there indicate UC San Diego as the clear winner in the battle between UCI vs UCSD.

Everyone’s got personal opinion on each school, but unless it’s supported by numbers and data out there, your opinion will stay an opinion.

^I know people who go to Berkeley, LA, Davis, San Diego, Irvine, Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara and have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t love their school. I think people are happy based on their own personalities and their ability to select a school that works for them, rather than any “happiness” ranking contingent on the school itself. For instance, my friends at Santa Barbara would probably be miserable at Berkeley, and vice versa.

some of you might be funny in person, but when you try to be witty with your writing (even if ‘it’s just a stupid innarwebz forum’), you fail miserably.

just saying…

because it’s embarrassing when you think you’ve landed a sick burn and, well… haven’t.

one thing on the subject… someone gave a list and pointed out that they go to UCSB so as not to be considered impartial in listing UCSB as #3…

exactly.

also, to the guy who said that Berkeley holds the only prestige in the UC system and ‘the rest can be considered pretty much the same’, or something… fooldawg… UCLA will pwn you.

You guys have no idea how talented students are at UCI. I know many people that go to both UCI and SD and the students at UCI blow them out of the water. No comparison.

Oh you know people who go to both schools? Well why didnt you say so earlier? That changes everything. Im going to call US News Rankings, Princeton Review, and every other reputable ranking system and tell them to bump up UCI because in your expert opinion UCI students blow UCSD students out of the water. I’ll also have to call the UC Stat Finder help desk and tell them there is an error in their system because it keeps telling me that those who enroll in UCSD have higher GPA’s, SAT’s and ACT scores than those who enroll in UCI.

Thanks for setting us all straight Macgruber!
