Uc Regected Applicants

This is more reasonable then gabew's logic that cannot hold any critique.

i think somebody on here would at least know someone who got rejected, i know a lot of the people at my school who are trying to transfer and the only school i know of with rejections is UCSC

You employed so many fallacies in your saying:

Here comes your first fallacy:

"Some of you are so vocal"
1. personal attack ad hominem:
A pattern of fallacious reasoning in which we refuse to accept another's argument because there is something about the person we don't like or of which we disapprove. A form of ad hominem.
Note: Stick to the arguments, don't try to distract the argument by discredit your opponents because that is just irrelevant.

"What is your logic?"
2. Misplacing the burden of proof:
A form of fallacious reasoning in which the burden of proving a point is placed on the wrong side. One version occurs when a lack of evidence on one side is taken as evidence for the other side, in cases where the burden of proving the point rests on the latter side.

"Let me clarify my points. Let us say they look at 200 applications per day, and accept, let’s say 150. Now you, who are so vocal, please answer me: what happens to those 50 remaining applicants?"
<<< Not only this claim lacks the credibility in the resource itself, it also lacks the credible source? What is your supporting evidences and who says this?

I don't want to do any debate but just point out some of the fallacies you already have given in your own post; I don't think there is any need for further argument...
Peace... :)

Same. By the way, I'm thinking my brother will get rejected from atleast 1 of the three schools (uci, ucsb, ucsd), but he hasn't. he has a 2.81gpa

wow... your brother just passed the minimum requirement for UC GPA 2.81... that is so close and neat.

i'm wondering how "neat" that'll be if some of his decisions turn out to be unfavorable. knocks on wood

"By the way, I'm thinking my brother will get rejected from atleast 1 of the three schools (uci, ucsb, ucsd), but he hasn't. he has a 2.81gpa"

That is evidence for the fact that they still haven't gotten to stacks of applications, your brother's being one of them.

By the way, the ** minimum for UC is 2.4 **, although many programs have higher minimums (such as 2.8 or 3.0).

yeah... gabew42, I got that!

No one at my school(s) (evc, san jose city) has heard anything. People I have spoken to are getting nervous but it seems that if no one on this fourm has heard anything either. We're all in the same boat so there is no need to fear.

It doesnt really matter to me, but I like to my options before I sign the acceptance card of my first choice school (not a UC). It's begging me to sign it. So hard. So hard.

Waiting sucks by the way.

Yup.. Big time

Know my options*

This is a dicsussion board... Some of you act like you are "allknowing" proffesors, or despots if you wish. Give other people a chance to openly discuss their points of views without "panishing" them with your long persuasive, and in most casses pointless essays.

Only the posts that blatantly attack others, instead of addressing issues or arguments, should be restricted.

i agree people are acting like they know more than they do

Gabew42. Who attacked you??

Yep... Let me input a few addition to your points:
1. NOT addressing the issues or arguments but finding way to distract it (straw man fallacy)
2. Blantanly attack others with those IRRELEVANT points

Haybaxt... may be you could learn a lesson of that. Well, we just point it out for you for the better, and we have no intention to do any verbal attack or whatever negative you might be think of.

Anyways, Haybaxt... peace! :)

Peace and only peace

Rejected from UCSB. Political Science major. 3.29 gpa...

Again, Cost... :( very sorry to hear that but you can still appeal to admission.

UCSB is giving out rejections? I am freaking nervous to check but the site is currently on maintenance.
