I know that you have to maintain a minimum of a 3.0 throughout your senior year in order to not have them rescind their decision or hurt consideration of your application. My question is, is the 3.0 gpa mentioned above weighted or unweighted?

unweighted

Depends on the school, doesn't it? I think my friend at UCSC last year said that all he needed was a 2.0 and nothing at a D or below, but Cal has a different policy, as do all other UC's. Why doesn't someone post all the official school policies? I think Cal's is still unweighted 3.0 with nothing below a C.

yeah, a post like that would be immensely helpful!

As I'm an out-of-stater whose GPA isn't on the 4.0 scale (100 scale), I'm wondering what a 3.0 is on the 100 scale?

Is it just 3/4 = 75?
and a C is...75?

Sorry for my ignorance.

i believe a 3.0 is equal to a 90%, if im not mistaken

3.0 is definitely not 90%, a 3.0 is a B average.

3.0 = 80%

-10 characters-

If I happen to get 80, 80, 75, 75, 95, 95...would that be okay? (83.3 cumulative)

Ah, extenuating circumstances+senioritis=bad combination.

Edit: Oh, this is for UCLA/UCB (assuming I get admitted...as an OOS). My 10th+11th grades were 93-94 I think.

i think that would be fine, but i don't know. You should most certainly call the office (anonymously).

mariopuzo, you don't have to be anonymous at all. Just call UC to get clarification of your status. Keep us informed of the outcome.

Thanks DRab.
Due to these grades, I think the only schools I have a chance at are UCLA, Berkeley, and NYU (these don't require midyear grades). Now, I have to get accepted..

best of luck!!

what about a 2.8?

wait..so is the 3.0 an average of both semesters? or just 3.0 average for each individual semester?

I think its for each semester

so what if I did poorly (like slightly below 3.0 unw) 1st semester but did really well 2nd semester? Would my acceptance be rescinded?

Individual cases vary. Call your local UC for information, now!

That number again is 555 . . . .

haha..today I found out my grades aren't as bad as i thought it would be....so I'm above the 3.0 unw mark..yay for me

So this means we can get Cs rite.....provided we stay above a 3.0?

right?? right??
