So I’m waiting for my waitlist result for UCI but haven’t heard back from them yet. The housing contract for UCR is due on May 10 and I have to pay a $270 fee. If UCI does accept me off their waitlist, will this fee be refunded? It also says on the Parent/Guardian Guarantee Form that canceling the Residence Halls contract “will put Resident in default of the contract, resulting in financial consequences and possible legal action.” Will these financial consequences and “legal action” impact me if I do get accepted into UCI and decide to go there instead?
(sorry if this was confusing)
You need to make sure that the housing contract at UCR can be cancelled and that all you’ll lose is you deposit.
What would happen is you just don’t sign the contract by May 10? Is housing so tight that you won’t get housing on campus or is it just that you’ll get put into undesirable housing?
I’d spend tomorrow talking to URI and to housing at UCR.
Pay the deposit. It’s worth it.
The deposit is refundable up to the specific deadline minus a $75 processing fee. If you want guaranteed housing, pay the deposit. Check your housing contract and it should state the deadline to cancel to receive the deposit back.
