UC Riverside or CSU Long Beach

Hey! So I recently got waitlisted at my dream school UCI and now my choices down to UC Riverside or Long Beach. For some background, I applied as an Electrical Engineering to UCR and as an Aerospace Engineering to Long Beach. My goal now is to become an Aerospace Engineer. So I intend to change my major to Mechanical Engineering at UCR. Also, I want to transfer to another school after two years. I got enough aid from each school to chose between the two.

I just had a couple of questions about each one.
Which one is a bigger and “better” campus?
Which one would give me a better education and most doors open for my future?
How easy is it transfer to another UC after two years ( for each school)?
Which one would you choose?

My 2 cents worth.

Do not attend a school with the intention of transferring in 2 years.

Community college to UC is well proven path to get you to your goal.

Bigger campus is CSULB with over 30,000 undergrads vs. around 21,000 for UCR.

Better campus in terms of what? You can compare curriculum’s for each schools ME/Aerospace program and also the ABET accreditation.

Since both programs at CSULB and UCR are ABET accredited, academically they will be comparable.

Jobs/Internships/Future career goals are usually up to the student to take advantage of all resources at either school.

CSULB has excellent relations with local employers and wonderful Engineering facilities. UCR will have smaller class sizes in the upper division courses and good relations with local employers.

CC transfers get priority over CSU to UC and UC to UC transfers, so maybe a slight disadvantage. Getting a competitive GPA at any school for transfer and completing all the transfer requirements will be the most important.

@Gumbymom Thank you so much for your advice! I really appreciate it! I decided on Long Beach because I know I’ll enjoy it there even if I don’t transfer!

Best of luck.
