My housing message has not changed.

LOL @ this madness. If this turns out to be true, it may be because I’m a one year transfer. That’s the only thing I think could’ve significantly worked against me.
I have a 3.90 with IGETC and all my prereqs completed and my housing message did not change. I guess it doesn’t really matter to me because I don’t plan on attending UCSD even if I’m accepted, but we’ll just have to wait and see!
I came back here after 2 hours, and I saw I had 69 notifications, and I thought to myself it would probably be a bunch of people posting about the housing trick…
Major: Economics
GPA: 3.7**
IGETC: Will be completed by the end of spring
Pre-Reqs: will be completed by the end of spring
TAG: UCSB

Accepted: UCSB
** - For my senior year of hs, I went to a middle college where I took community college classes for dual high school and college credit. I took only two classes that year and got a C and B, which is what makes my GPA a 3.7. If you don’t count those classes I have a 3.92 and I mentioned in my application that I took those two classes in high school when my academic performance was suffering due to tons of absences from a chronic illness.
@kindfine I’m in the same situation as you. 4.0 GPA, psychology major, strong essays, lots of extracurricular, etc. I also finished pre-reqs and I’m finishing IGETC this semester. Only thing I can think of to work against me is that I’m a one year transfer…
My housing message hasn’t changed.
Major: Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 3.8
IGETC: No
Pre-Reqs: The last few in progress aside from one chem class.
On assist.org, it says that Chem 6B is a pre-req but they also have “It is strongly recommended that transfers complete the following preparation for all engineering majors” for just Chem 6A which i have in progress currently. Do you think just not being able to finish that one gen chem class would affect my admittance that much?
@chal23913 I have 21 units worth of classes in progress… All of which I am sure I will pass but maybe one year transfers like us are just too much of a risk UCSD is willing to take… Is this your top choice?
@kindfine I have around 50 units including APs and college classes I took while in high school, just about 10 in progress. I’m not really sure but no it’s not a first choice, I probably wouldn’t go even if I got in so I’m not that worried
@kindfine I’m taking my last 21 units this semester too and my housing hasnt changed. I hope they don’t worry about us not finishing that many classes.
@KTQTPI I’m in the exact same situation as you…
Mechanical Engineering Major with 3.81 gpa only missing the chem 6B class. I was confused as well if it was required for us to complete the 2nd chem class prior to transfer. UC Berkeley is similar where it states just the first chem class as being required and then below it has both.
I assume that not having it finished wouldn’t be the sole reason for a rejection.
@chal23913 UCSD is honestly last on my list but it kinda worries me bc my top choice is UCLA and if I don’t have what it takes to get into UCSD why should I think I would for UCLA? Overthinking this is probably the worst thing I could do right about now though so I’ll stop @IWannaMakeDrugs They likely know it’s a risk to take transfers who take on heavy unit spring semesters, but I guess its up to their judgement of our ability to complete those classes given our academic history. I have the same hope though!
@kindfine@chal23913 even though my gpa arent as high as both of yours (i have a 3.83), i’m also a one year transfer with a bad housing message maybe it’s because they didn’t see enough of our classes in the beginning or something…im also taking 20 units in progress
The Housing Office currently does not have updated information on your Admission Status and therefore cannot accept a housing application today. You may come back to this link once Admissions has communicated their decision on your application to UC San Diego. You can check this by logging in at myapplication.ucsd.edu.
The housing message change seems a lot more neutral than it did in previous years… I’m just going to not worry about it. Hopefully some decisions come out today.
