Lol that doesn’t seem very encouraging. Again, it is speculation. Everyone I have talked to doesn’t see why I wouldn’t get it. I’m at the top of all my classes, and I know that my personal statement was awesome. Its just those darn pre reqs. But with my time line there wasn’t any other way, so I guess I’ve done all I could and just pray for the best
If you don’t mind me asking, why the time crunch?
My husband is in the military, and we were here less than two years. So i’ve done like 18 credit semesters and the max credits in the summers so I could finish before we leave in May lol My home state is CA though.
Oh, I see! Thank you for your sacrifice and your husband’s service!
@FuturePAinCA UCSD mainly evaluates applicants based on prereqs and academic ability, so i’d say that you’ve got the academic part down with that 4.0. that being said, i heard they barely even glance at your personal statements and extracurriculars (only UCB, UCLA, UCI review holistically)
as for the prereqs, i know for a fact that ucsd is infamous for bio, so i was actually surprised to hear that it wasnt on the impacted list this year since it was previous years. bio is really competitive, but if you really took that many classes, you’ll probably be fine if you’re only missing like 2 classes??? idk you might wanna check last year’s admission decisions if you’re curious LOL
I appreciate your feedback @friedchips ! I’m sure it differs from each evaluation! Hopefully that 4.0 will push me on the accepted list lol where do I find last years admission decision? Lol worst case scenario, I’ll go to a community college get more pre requisites and re apply next year.
@FuturePAinCA I meant last year’s admission decision thread. I was crazy enough to go through almost all the pages LOL, here it is: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1617755-2014-fall-ucsd-transfer-decisions-thread-p1.html
By the way, the first batch of released decisions only has acceptances right?
I think so, but I don’t remember.
Lol you’re nuts! I’ll probably do the same. Thanks a bunch. we can only hope for the best
When is the first batch coming out ? Anybody know ?
@boy561 UCSD website says the first batch for transfer students comes out mid March They already started calling admitted Freshmen this past Tuesday!!
So, UCs will still be giving out admissions and rejections on time, but will be accepting same number of Californians they did last year this year even if application numbers are up…

^ I wonder if that will result in a large wait-list…
@luckie1367 it should be increasing the wait list pool, since the budget won’t be decided until Spring…
*late Spring
Come on wait-list!
Can anyone tell me how much of an impact finishing my math requirement in the spring will have. I had two w’s in my first two semester both for math. All my major prerequisites are done (political science) along with my two required english classes. My gpa is a 3.52. I am really paranoid because UCSD is my number choice out of all the schools I applied to.
I’m in a similar situation to choji100 in that I will complete my English requirement this spring semester. I have a 4.00 gpa if that helps my case at all. However, as a CS major who is missing a few prerequisites and will have exactly 60 UC transferable units at the end of the spring semester, I won’t be surprised if I get denied or possibly wait-listed.
No impact as long as you finish Math by Spring 2015. All the UC’s clearly state that the required courses to be completed by Spring 2015. However, having the prerequisites completed when you apply in November may make you more competitive in the eyes of the admission officers.
