accepted !! in state, political science :] 3.98 UW, 4.33 capped, 4.17 W. speech and debate 9/11-12, did social science research, newspaper (12), girls’ state as my main ECs. 7 APs by the end of this year. national merit finalist (semifinalist on app)

So many kids w/ outstanding academics on the WL, I’m having a hard time understanding how he was accepted for CS outright.

His acceptance letter states:
“Congratulations, we are pleased to offer you admission for fall 2022 to UCSD as a major in Computer Science and in Marshall College”

Does this mean he will be a CS major in UCSD without needing to play the dreaded CS capped lottery? Marshall College? Is that UCSD’s college of Engineering?

Please help me understand. Thank you!

since I already paid my deposit for purdue engineering, i wonder if its worth canceling purdue’s (no refund) and spending another deposit fee to enroll

Marshall is one of UCSD’s seven colleges. It is not the COE.
