I know UC San Diego is way better known for their sciences and is more prestigious, but which one would I be more successful in GPA wise. Would my grades be the same if I went to either, or would I have a slighter edge at UC Davis since its “easier.” Or is that all talk?
Being successful GPA wise is up to you. Both schools will be competitive since there are many Pre-Med students working for that high GPA. Prestige will make little difference when it comes to applying to Medical school. High GPA/High MCAT scores/medically related jobs/internships/research/volunteer opportunities will be important.
Pick the school that fits you academically/socially and financially and always have a Plan B if Medical school does not pan out.
Hurdle #1 - get into both.
Only then will this be an issue.
They are both very good schools and attract a very bright student body. Can you excel at either? I have no idea.
Apply to an array of schools - big, small, selective, and less so - see where you get in - do some tours, then pick a school that fits your needs/wants and budget.
Apply to both. If either are interested, they will try to place you at one of them. UC Davis has a “smaller” feel whereas UCSD has the best view!! They are both great schools. Tour both and see for yourself.
