My son just got into UCSB!! He is so happy! I am stoked for him.
Some stats: Accepted In-state, Economics
Unweighted GPA: 3.8, Weighted: 4.3
6-7 AP Course (+ AP Test scores of 4-5)
Some volunteer, extra-curriculars, work experience (lifeguarding). Not much sports.
Accepted to: UC Davis, SDSU, UC Santa Cruz, Long Beach State, UCSB
Rejected by: UCLA, UC Irvine
Waitlisted: UCSD
Still waiting to hear from: Cal Poly & UC Berkeley
Props to all the hard-working students and supportive parents out there! This has been quite a journey.

I cannot believe this - but my hypothesis has been proven wrong!!! So happy for my son.

-Accepted: mechanical engr
-3.97 UW, 4.28 UC Capped, 4.54 UC Fully weighted, 4.23 SLO (9-11 capped), 4.67 fully weighted
-Not ELC (yes Statewide)
-1550 SAT (know CSUs and UC don’t take)
-17 AP/H/DE - all 5s except one 4 (AP Comp English) on AP tests, multiCalc/LinAlg/Diff Eqs, AP PhysC, AP Stats senior yr)
-Very good leadership ECs (founded club, member multiple clubs), no research or internships

Daughter got in.

Weighted UC capped: 4.25
Good ECs and decent amount of community service hours.
She got waitlisted at UCD, UCSD and UCI. Finally see her smile today.

This is Round 2 for us. Last year he applied to 10 Reach schools and got 7 rejections and 3 waitlists which went nowhere. He ended up taking a gap year and we started the process all over again. If you think that this process is hard, try doing it twice - but he did it!
We are very pleased that this year has offered more possibilities. Son is happy with the acceptance but not sure he wants to switch to Physics.

UCD is awsome, (My D23 did not get in even though both parents went there) Cal Aggie Marching Band - Uh has the band experience for sure.

UCD and Purdue are outstanding schools for MechE, especially Purdue. Congrats on having the tenacity and courage to go through this a 2nd time.

I remember there was another tab for honors college acceptance letter, last year. We got the big blue envelop that had regents letter along with acceptance letter.
