UC Santa Barbara to Release decisions 3/22/10

How can you check though? You need a UCSBnetID. Even then, it says that we can’t see our unofficial award letter til March 30th anyway.

March 22nd at 4 pm

@Ridefixed- I was asking about sbrry7’s FAFSA comment. It seems odd that we’d be able to check our financial aid status, since you need a UCSBnetID, but you can’t get one til you’ve been admitted.

@ kernl, when you log into the site for your app, theres a link on the left that says “fafsa status”, when i click it, it just brings me to the page saying " your fafsa has been recieved etc"

My FAFSA status used to say something about it them not having received it or something to that effect. But just a few days ago it changed to “Your initial 2010-2011 FAFSA was received by the federal processor on 1/4/2010” Don’t know if it means anything though…

Oh neat- thanks guys. I’m so sick of seeing “Decision Pending” (In my naivete, I’ve been hoping for a web fluke, but I think they have this down), it’ll be nice to look at something else for a change.

Why 4PM? That is gay.

I think everyone’s status might have been updated to “received” or whatever.

Have you guys applied for housing?

I really hope they post transfer decisions for UC transfers tomorrow too!

yeah mine says received too, but 3/2/2010. LOLL

Mine still says Decision Pending

I had a quick question. If I applied to UCSB for Economics, (Previously 1 year at University of Arizona and current year at CC) I have my IGETC completed but I have not finished all my pre-recs for Econ. I have amazing ECs, good essays and around a 3.9 GPA, with a 4.0 on my IGETC.

Since I don’t have all my pre-reqs done, does that mean I have no chance of getting in?

^their talking about the FAFSA status

decisions should all still say pending.

@ Lustrous- Nah, you certainly still have a chance. Especially with that GPA. Remember- the UCs (especially UCSB) don’t necessarily get MAD that you don’t have EVERY SINGLE pre-req. After all, it means you have to take it there, which is $$$ in the bank for them. It all depends on the major and the UC (ie UCB & UCLA = super-strict), but with UCSB, there isn’t much to worry about. I am missing 3 pre-reqs for the Poli Sci-Public Service major, and I was still told I’m a shoo in.

Straight off the Assist website for UCSB Econ Major:

“Although completion of all major preparatory courses is not an admissions requirement, completion, or near completion, of these courses will help students move more efficiently toward graduation after transfer.”

Now I have a question- how come everyone says UCSB doesn’t look @ the essays?

I want to know RIGHT NOW!!! I hope we all get in :)

there is a link to a UC .pdf that lists which UC’s use the personal statements in their admissions process and which dont. if i recall correctly, UCB, UCLA, and UCD are the only ones that do. the other UC’s use them for borderline applicants from my understanding.

@Lustrous you should be fine but i think they want you to have at least Calc 1 completed, not 100% sure tho

Well I still have not heard back from UCSD, and that was one of my safety schools. Sigh.

Lustrous, if you don’t have a transferable math course, they will most likely admitt you with conditions. The condition would require you to receive a C or better in Calc 2 if thats the course you need.

I think I am taking the correct Math course right now, I know it works for USC, not sure if it works for the UCs.

Tomorrow I imagine the boards being filled with accepted to UCSB threads while I stare at the words “decision pending” until May 1st. Lets see what happens.
