UC Santa Cruz SIP 2016

does anyone know the rate of acceptance from the waitlist? it doesn’t say anything about waitlists on the website :expressionless:

I just got admitted into AST-03 “Large Scale Structure of the Universe!” Honestly, I can’t contain my excitement. I’m so ecstatic!!!
I’m a sophomore living in Pleasanton. Are there any people near me that would like to try to coordinate a carpool? Just hit me up!

As for the people that got rejected/waitlisted, don’t feel down. Before applying to UCSC SIP, I got rejected in UCSB RMP and COSMOS. When I got rejected, I politely emailed the directors to ask for some personal insight and criticism about my application. They talked about the different flaws in my writing style and how I could better express my ideas and goals. Getting rejected by those programs helped me improve as a person and as an applicant. In fact, I would argue that if I got accepted into any of them, I would not have gotten accepted in SIP.

Learn from mistakes and improve upon them. You guys will for sure make it next year!

I was accepted!! I would say you guys have a pretty good chance on the waitlist. I’ve talked to some of the people at my school who got accepted and they seem to still be deciding.

I got rejected… does anyone know of any way I can still be involved in research at a UC school or Stanford or Caltech? Biomedical engineering is preferable but not prerequisite for my consideration.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, was there a preference for local students? I am out of state and want to know for future reference.

just wondering… did anyone get accepted off the waitlist yet? the date for accepted students to decide to go or not was yesterday so I’m getting anxious… but still haven’t heard anything

jk deadline is this friday hmmm

I haven’t been accepted off the waitlist yet.

I got accepted but the research topic is not close to my intended major. I am wondering how would you compare SIP to COSMOS? Which experience would help college app more?

I got in. For those of you that are going, are you planning on staying on campus or taking the daily shuttle?
