Okay got it, Thanks, for the advice.

Congrats everyone they release alot over the past couple days it seems. Check out the FB group http://www.facebook.com/groups/127197717464810/

I got my financial aid package info. Grants cover tuition plus about 5000, plus 2300 work/study. My FAFSA is for off-campus housing, if that makes a difference.

Yeah, mine is the same. It says I can get ~7000 in loans for the remaining cost.

I still haven’t heard anything. Something tells me that I’ll have to wait till the 30th. Sigh =(

I also got my financial aid information. Does anyone know what this means: “Conditional FWS Option; Work/Study”

EDIT: Never mind, I googled it.

My EFC is 16,140. The breakdown is 12,140 from parent, 4,000 from student.
I’ve been thinking about this for a week now, and I just can’t get my head around this. I don’t want to feel disappointed because I am getting about 3400 in grants, but damn! I don’t have 16k! How is everyone getting these fabulous packages?
My legal guardian made less than 80K last year, so I’m assuming (or pleading, at this point) that my “fees” will be covered by Blue and Gold? Otherwise, quite honestly I just can’t afford it.
Is anyone else in the same boat? I feel so conflicted. I’m very grateful for any money at all, but I’m at a loss as to what to do. :/

If your parent made less than 80,000, I think you should be covered by Blue and Gold? My package is significantly higher because I am an independent non-trad student with an EFC of 0.

I’m almost certain Blue and Gold doesn’t take affect until after an SIR is submitted. So I’m crossing my fingers until then! It would significantly help.
Hopefully we can all manage to afford it one way or another! I would hate to think of throwing all that work away because of a lack of finances.

@rockgirl i haven’t heard anything yet eiter =(

I still haven’t heard back. Computer Science major

I wonder how much they consider SAT scores. I also think we should start a pool about when we’re actually going to be given a decision

Your legal guardian probably should not be filling out your FAFSA. That form is for parents and independent students. If you do not have any parents there should be another procedure. Are you a California resident? Call the financial aid office immediately for assistance. Good luck.

Yes I’m a resident but also under the age of 24 and not married so I’m considered dependent. There was no other option when filling out the FAFSA. I had to input my own information and my legal guardian’s information. Unless there was another option that I missed?

It’s cool UCSC, I’ll just keep waiting.

getting really nervous I have to sign up for housing and classes soon at my current school. I wish Santa Cruz would just release them all at once like other schools!

@ghiblijiang UCSB is a waaaay better school than UCSC in terms of partying and academics. go to UCSB

f UCSB.

@Ghib I got into SC and SB and I’m with you, F SB!

PS its not “waaaay” better and employers won’t know the difference lol…

lol SB is much better than SC. Don’t you think if they were both of the same standard, they’d both be equally easy to get into?
