I just found out some awesome information about my major at UCSC and I'm definitely going to attend UCSC. How many of you are 100% sure you're going to attend UCSC even if you get accepted to UCLA/UCSB, etc?

D: For me it might it might be UCSC or UCD in the end. I need to research more on the Econ majors for both haha

@Mermaker I’m about 90 percent sure. Still waiting on UCB but I highly doubt I’ll get in. Even if I do I’ll be 50/50 between it and SC.

Mermaker! If i remember correctly are you talking about the anthro program?
Also, im 99% going to attend!!!

You guys know UCSC is where it’s at! Like many of you, my first choice was UCD, but SC prevailed and I’m not going back. :)

OKAY Honestly… THERE is a lot more things to do at UCSC than UCD… Beach, Amusement Park, Downtown.

Davis has no beach nearby, but has Six Flags about an hour away, and they also have a downtown

Chrono I think you mean Great America?
Six Flags is Near LA.

If UCLA doesn’t accept me which I highly doubt they will, then it is UCSC.
It’s Exciting had family who’ve attended and will keep the tradition alive with either UCLA or UCSC. Still need to visit though before I SIR.

@surfing Yeah man! So you know how we need 9 upper division courses to complete the Anthro major, right? Now, let’s say we transfer with 60 semester (90 quarter units), that means we will only need 45 upper division units to complete the major. This is about 135 quarter units. So what about the other 45 units we need to graduate-- we need 180 units to gradute? Since we are going to be done with the major requirements, we can essentially take those last 45 units in ANYTHING- upper division or lower division! (We could technically take a surfing class for 2 units, etc)
Now, the Anthro department recommends you take courses that relate to one Anthro field if you want to emphasize, which I do. For example, if you emphasize in Bio Anthro, they recommend you take bio classes. If you want to emphasize in Archaeology, they recommend you take Ancient history or Earth Science classes! This is FREAKING SWEET! The whole reason I didn’t really want to go to UCSC was because I didn’t want to take a bunch of anthro classes for the reminding 45 units. I wanted to take related classes in bio or whatever. I spoke to the Porter college academic adviser and he confirmed my conjured up speculation! You should have seen how happy I was!
I am so looking forward to UCSC now! It’s going to be so freaking sweet!

Look on page 19 where it says “pathways” on the UCSC Anthropology handbook. If you look at the end of any of the pathways, it will list relevant courses for each of the subfields (archaeological, Social and Bio).

Nope! They have a Six Flags near Davis as well!

There’s a Great America in the Bay Area though!

I like UCSC’s campus more than Davis’s but it’s hard both are great. Davis is completely flat. When you’re at UCSC it’s like you’re on an adventure LOL

@ Chrono Isn’t the Econ major at UCSC top notch? I’m heard a lot of people say that.

Yeah, it’s going to be a hard decision. Econ at UCSC is very selective, it even says on Assist, and has certain requirements as well. UCD’s doesn’t though. I have to look further on which school is better for my major. It might be UCSC.

I was thinking of applying to UCD, but people told me it was like our home town (Central California) and the whole reason I wanted to transfer was to leave this kind of area for awhile. Waiting for UCSB, UCI, and UCLA(#1 choice). Just seen UCI was ranked higher in college rankings but the campus which I’ve only seen though YouTube videos seemed like a very bland looking campus, but will still be visiting them if I’m admitted and will make my choice then; which is hopefully soon.

Also I didn’t know California had 2 Six Flags and lived here my whole life. Pretty cool haha

I’m definitely going UCSC. Any of you guys going to Spring Spotlight next month (especially during the transfer day only)?

@wilson When is that? I’m seriously considering it. I’ll see if I have money for the road trip when the day comes.

April 5th - 13th

[Spring Spotlight 2013](http://admissions.ucsc.edu/visit/spring-spotlight/index.html)

I’m 50/50 on flying out for it.

it’s April 5th-13th. Transfer day is the 12th
you have to reserve a spot at admissions.ucsu.edu/visit/spring-spotlight/index.html
need to see if I have money too.

Oh, I definitely might since it’s on a Friday. We can meet up if any of you go. I’ll just yell “College Confidential” when we are all in a crowd or something haha

@mrandall Flying out?? For what? Just rent a car for $25 a day

anyone join that facebook thing UCSC sent? and thought you need to be over 25yo? haha if they give a full tank and you don’t need to give it back with a full tank I might have to do that.

You do not have to be over 25 lol I though that too until I actually rented a car from Enterprise. They give you a full tank and you have to fill it up.

I just joined it. It’s pretty cool
