UC Santa Cruz Transfer Decisions 2013

Does anyone know about admissions being revoked? For some reason, I am soooo paranoid that I will get my admissions revoked. I accidentally put the wrong location of one of the schools (I went to UMD, College Park but my application says UMD, Adelphi). I hope it is not a big deal because both schools have the exact same school code (which is how I did not notice the mistake). When i finally noticed the mistake, I tried to fix it on the UC Application, but it kept telling me the dates were invalid, so I could not change it.

Also, I failed an English course about five years ago; I put it in my application but made a mistake on the course number ( I put 210 when it was 202)

I know that the most common reason for retracting admissions is about grades for this semester. My grades for this semester are two A’s and one B so I’m fine there. I did not lie and put all my bad grades (even ones I later made up). I’m kind of anal, so have already ordered my transcripts, so they’ll definitely be there before July 15. Am I just being ridiculous?

Also, to all those still waiting; I just got my answer Saturday. I think they seem to be sending acceptances/rejections on the weekends. Good luck!!!

Oh wow 3.09-3.1 gpa man you caught me I’m a ■■■■■. Would you like to send you a picture of my acceptance?
Haha x)

Ghibi, haha no cussing please . Calm down haha my campus has an agreement with UCSD that apparently no other student here at my campus knew about. Its similar to tag , you had to sign it right out of high shool though and take certain classes which is basically the igetc.

Mermaker for UCSD apparently none except Anthro 101. You needed general zoology and a whole bunch other classes which is equivalent to like only two classes at ucsd. For ucsc i have all of them Anthro 101,102, and 103. Did you complete the prereqs for UCSD?

None of my prerequisites articulated, so I guess none. That’s the only thing I’m worried about. Since I don’t have that many prerequisites completed, I’m afraid it’s going to take me a while to graduate. The only good thing is that only 12 upper division courses are needed for the major, which translates to only 48 units. Since ill need 32 more units to graduate, I can use those units to complete prereqs.

Since most of the prereqs are not offered at my school anyways. There are similar courses but not the same. To fulfill two of their prereqs i would have needed to take like 5 or 6 classes i think. I think you should be fine as long as you have igetc done. I think thats the main focus. The other few classws we should be able to take at the university for our major. Where would you rather attend UCSD or UCSC??

Yeah, I have igetc done and if you have that done for Marshall, you don’t have to take anything else. I want to completely emphasize bio so UCSD has a way better program. It’s actually the best bio anthro program. If you want to emphasize in evolutionary anthropology, UCSB is the school to be at because of all the human nature courses they offer. My first choice is UCSB and then UCSD; it’s a toss up with the rest of the UCs, including LA an Cal.

Yes, you’re lucky. I got into revelle with igetc and I still need 2 or 3 quarters of calculus. Oh well haha. I also applied to UCSB, iv’e been there a few times and stayed at the dorms its pretty cool. UCSD is my top choice then UCSC then UCSB( If i get in to the latter two). I applied to UCLA but I’m not even planning to get into that one. UCSC seems pretty cool, Foresty campus close to the beach looks awesome.

UCSC is pretty awesome and It was my number 1 choice for a long time, but It just doesn’t have the emphasis in Biology/Evolution. It’s also not as a close to the beach as you think. You’ll have to drive or take the bus to get there. UCSB is freaking awesome! It literally offers everything that I want: close proximity to the beach so I can surf, close to LA so I can go home easily when I want, and It has my major. UCSD pretty much has those 3 things, but the major is a little bit better at UCSB and that makes all the difference.

Yeah well UCSC seems perfect for the motorcycle I plan to buy later this month. UCSD is great , its just I’m from San Diego and I kinda want to leave. If I wasn’t from Here I would go to UCSD in a heart beat. Santa Barbara is a great college town. The only thing is the food isn’t nearly as good as LA or San Diego haha

You’re a dependent if you have parents. If you do not have parents, you may be considered independent. The legal guardian should not figure in this equation. I know this because I am considering becoming a foster parent and was told that the child would be considered independent for financial aid as I cannot afford to pay another child’s tuition. YOu might want to check with the financial aid office.

@mermaker have you visited ucsc ?

Yeah I have. If you look on this thread, I posted a lot of pictures of my visit. Page 13

I’ll look for them right now. Thanks . Did you like it? It’s ranked in the top ten most beautiful campuses.

I LOVED the campus! It’s so chill and beautiful, and the air smells so fresh. I’m actually bummed out that they don’t really have what I want.

Man , It looks amazing. It seems so peaceful. If I get accepted I think I might choose it over UCSD. Are you pursuing a career in Anthropology?

I just got rejected. It says I “do not meet their criteria for a junior level transfer”. I’m unsure what that means. Is that the same rejection everyone recieves?

I’m not really sure yet. My first priority is get a bachelor’s degree, and if I end up getting a high GPA, I’ll apply to a few forensic graduate programs. I heard Chico state has a great program and so does UCSC, so who knows. I know of a few jobs that make pretty good money that only require a bachelor’s in anything.

@dina no that is not the same rejection everyone gets. You probably didn’t meet the minimum requirements:

 1. did not complete 60 units
 2. minimum GPA
 3. 2 English courses
 4. 1 math course
 5. 4 courses in either arts, humanities, social physical and bio classes

I find this weird since you got accepted to UCSD. Maybe it was that program you were talking about earlier. I would call UCSC and ask them why you were rejected

I have conpleted all the requirements. I mean if I hadn’t UCSD would have rejected me as well. I will have my igetc done by spring. Gpa is 3.1 English is done , the 4 courses are done. I’m currently taking my transferable math and by the end of the semester I will have completed 61 units. Do you think I should appeal?

Call them tomorrow and find out exactly why you were rejected. Do that first before you do start the appeal process

Yeah I’ll call tomorrow morning. It sucks because I was just beginning to warm up to the idea of picking ucsc over ucsd. Anyways i’ll post tomorrow see what they tell me. Hoping for the best. Thanks for the help!!
